The GRP 2053 pipe is the best pipe. I have not seen any Ofna pipe work well with this engine yet.

hey guys figured i would ask but idk if anyone will know for sure since ive had many people look at this even sponsored pro drivers..

my grp has like 3 maybe 3.5 gallons, i broke it in right, i took it easy for the first gallon, then about 1.5 gallons i lost a lot of pinch idk why, it never got over 190. then at the nitro challenge in az i was having problems like no other. temps would not go lower then 220 and i was runnin rich. i had mike thrue look at it and he couldnt even give me an answer. so i checked for air leaks none, took the head off, the piston looked perfect. the weekend after the challenge i went to a p4 plug, my temps dropped back down to 170-190 but im still running rich. im not getting all the power i should be gettin out of the grp but im still making the jumps so its not like its so rich its effecting the performance a lot but i had to have a run at jumps to clear them.

last night was a club race. same story, i tried leaning it out but didnt help it would shoot my temps up to 230 if i leaned it out and it would still be rich.Im only getting 6 min FLAT out of a tank. we had 6 min qualifers and i had to leave the pit at the last sec to make it, i actually ran out of fuel on the second qualifer.

so the main comes, its a 20 min main no big deal i would just pit 3 times. i richened it up because the temps started to drop and i didnt wanna over heat. temps were fine in practice. i knew i was running hot during the main i could just fill it, i had a good amount of smoke but i just had the feeling. i had great power, the power a grp should have. i took it off after the 20 min and temped it and i was at 260.

whats the deal with this grp? i have some pinch left, not where it should be at with the amount of fuel that has gone thru it but there is some. im not having issues with it shutting off, the temp seems to be consistent except for last night.

should i just junk this and get a new engine(not grp) or what...... ive always checked temps last night was the first time its over heated...... it seems like it will run good at 240ish but i dont wanna try it. i dont tune by temp but i know where these engines are supposed to run and this just has me worried.....

and please, i dont wanna hear that these engines run at 225 and not to run them at 160-190. if thats what you gotta say please keep it to your self. ive done my homework on these engines and i dont wanna get into an argument about something like that.

thanks in advance,

Losi Racer

i would check the front bearing. have a friend that swears he got 3 grp engines with leaky front bearings and i saw the results, 230* to make good power, but engine lost compression around 2 gallons. these engines aren't supposed to run that hot!

I've read that if you spray carb cleaner at the front bearing while the motor is running and the motor shuts off then the bearing is leaking.

um....... how do you start it if you take the flywheel off to check the bearing lol

Hey guys,

I was running my grp non-tuned yesterday in an ambient temp of 70 degrees. It has just under a gallon and was running nice and rich with good smoke on th bottom and a good trail on the top and the temps were at right around 210 when I brought it in the first few times. Then after about 7 minutes I brought it in and the tank was low, I took the temo and it was at about 230? Do the temps get higher when the tank gts low or do I have a problem?

Your good. Leans out as it runs dry. (or run dry like I do )

Check your temp gauge lately? I ran into a guy last year that couldnt get his to run right. We compared temp gauges and found his off by 40 degrees. Tuned it to my gauge and it ran great.

my dad uses it everyday for a/c, and we dont have issues with our other engines. his grp has ran hot as well but we had thrue temp his. but he said not to worry because his is so new. his temps are droppin a little as more fuel gets thru his

My new GRP is doing that too. Check the clutch I had a heat prob a few weeks ago and changes the clutches and then temps that were at 230's down to 175 but then this weekend temps in the 220's and then in the main it came in at 205 after 20 mins of hard running. As long as there is good smoke throughout all ranges I dont worry about it. The front bearing is defiantly a weak spot. I had one go bad under a gal and the other GRP I run has over a gal on it but I know soon it will go bad. Install TKO's and forget about the front bearing. Did you seal the carb and back plate? and how easy do the low, high and idle screws turn. If they turn easy then the carb needs an o-ring kit. The o-rings in this engine dont last too long, I have seen fuel come out of the HSN because the o-rings were bad. I always carry spare o-rings.
