Never looked after or serviced, I have just been giving it to it weekend after weekend.
It finaly gave up the ghost after about 38 litres of 25% fuel.
The main bearing losened up and took out the bushing that runs between the con rod and crank shaft.
Now I just ordered my first X1, I'm just waiting on news for a .28 release from AXE, to fit in my truggy.
Anyone got any idea on when this might happen?
Not sure on the Axe releasing a .28 yet. I guess contacting the distributor may give you some info. Let me know if you want to sell the Cobra if your not fixing it.

Is it me, or are those side ports huge in comparison to the Mamba and Cobra?

I've driven a couple tanks threw a buddy's X1 and its ballisticly fast
in his buggy. (Mine should be here next week) There is a performance
difference between the Cobra and the X1. Just as the Cobra has a little
more power then the V-Spec, the X1 has a little more then the Speed.
Mostly bottom, with the same top end. Thats what I saw & felt at
least. I think OS makes great motors, and I'm sure I'll be
purchasing "more" of them, but I think this X1 is going shake up the
racing community. My buddy's X1 idles and tunes the same as my Cobra.
Very easy with zero issues. I'm getting close to 9 minutes with the
new AXE 2050 pipe. I'm thinking when all the metal pinch has finally
worn away, it "should" increase the mileage a little more.

Compaired to my V-spec's and my WS7 III the X1 blows them away.

What carb restritor are you guys using? Also, is the X1 a 2 screw or 3 screw carb?

Yes they are larger on the X1

Exhaust port is the main change, but they also changed a little on the
other ports. The connecting rod has changed a bit since the early Cobras/Mambas. As well as it comes with ceramic bearings and the new Higher performance crank. A little bigger cooling head too vs the Cobra. Same case and carb.

7mm....

It has more then enough power with the 7mm, so I was looking to extend the run time. I'm getting 9.5 minutes (At sea level) with the AXE 2050 pipe now. Mine still has some metal pinch after 1.5 gallons, and when that finally wears away, I'm hoping to get 10 minutes. Actually I would like to see AXE come out with a 6mm restritor.

How long do these motors take to loosen up ??????

I would like to have one of these X1 engines dyno tested..my buddy Adam from AB Mods has a X-dyno....I would like to see how much power and what kind of powerband this motor offers..... Also I will likely modify this engine and see what kind of power its capable of making when modified........ I have always liked the look of Rossi engines... drooling over pics of their Maralanero red head.... these motors used to be ultra expensive and exotic...today they are priced very competively..

Yeah, I noticed they only have 2 now and they're not like any other restrictors either.
Also, do you guys know the stock shims from factory on the Cobra, not the X1? I have one used that has a new p/s and I spaced it the same as the Mamba @.40mm, but I am unsure if this is correct, sincce Axe has no PDF with exact details. The original p/s was detonated by the previous owner with his spacing.
