I just wanted to post my experience last night at leisure hours raceway in joliet. They have an indoor off-road race track setup and had nitro practice last night. So i decided to make the drive and see what they had to offer. I ended up getting there about an hour later than i originally thought so i only had a chance to run for 2 hours. But it was a blast. I only ran my buggy due to the time restraint, but had no problems what-so-ever with my go engine 7 port. In fact i ran it for over an hour, tank after tank without shutting it down with no issues what-so-ever.
I was keeping up with the werks, os, novas and everything else out there. In fact i was putting down some pretty impressive laps, expecially considering it was my first time there. Anyhow the night went off without a hitch and i was the only one there who didn't work on their rig more than they were running it. It seems most of the other guys come there to wrench instead of practicing, but thats ok. So i ended up putting about 3/4 of quart through my rig with only a 5 minute break to refill my fuel bottle once. The entire time the engine performed flawlessly and had all kinds of power. Its nice to have a competitive engine that doesn't cost an arm and a leg that runs as good or better than the competition. The only downside was the 3 hour drive to get there and the 2 hour drive home. All in all it was a great night and i look forward to going back for more :) And fyi i'm running a go engine 7 port 5 or 5.5 gen that i bought new (still in the shrink wrap) off of ebay for $50 earlier this summer. So good engines CAN be had cheaply, and with the right tuning these engines can make everyone else look foolish for spending 5-10x more money! |
good stuff, if it ain't broke don't fix it :lol::lol:

guys who are running the 7 port in the truggys, what are you running for clutch and pipe setup? Ive got the GX-7R in a Jammin X1-CRT, with an 086 pipe. It seems like its got nothing on the bottom end, but once it hits mid to top, the thing is a ripper!!! Im going to check around the carb base also, and make sure its not leaking air there.

Hey guys my buddy picked up a couple Gen 5.5s .21 3 ports for cheap. He drives a losi 8ight buggy. I know the 3 ports are more torue than the others but he is a budget racer and the price was right on these.
Now heres my question. What pipe would you guys recomend for the 3 port in a buggy to help "tame" the bottom and give it some more top? Possibly a 2072? thanks guys |

Ok, I need to look at a Gx3r, have they changed the timing on the Gx3r since they first version of the 3r came out? I ran the earlier 3 port race motors and they in no way had as much bottom end as a 5 port. I recommended them for intermediate drivers because they were smooth but still fast. all the other Gx motors have the same timing as the earlier versions.
I will rebuild a Gx3r for free if someone needs one rebuilt. Rex |
hey rex i sent you a PM

Possibly a 2072? thanks guys The 3 is quite snappy, but is tamer than the 5 when it comes to out and out bottom end power. Run the 086 Dynamite pipe. This will smooth out the power band (the 3 port is smooth anyway), and will extend the top end somewhat. |
I ran a GX 3 port....it was quite mild....nice running mill but nowhere near overpowered....definitely a smooth buggy engine...
