Default Crockpot engine cleaning?

Have any of you guys used the crockpot and antifreeze to clean engines like a lot of people do with pipes and headers? Would it be bad for orings? How bout glowplugs?

Hi i did it with aero engines.
But i removed everything rubber or composite material.
I experienced discoloration of the aluminum when the antifreeze is not fresh or deluded.

I never have cleaned a Car engine with antifreeze bc my engines are all black coated on the outside.
I clean them with isopropyl alcohol and nylon/ brass brushes.

For engine cleaning, buy a 1-2 liter ultrasonic cleaner with temp adjustment. for the block and carb, at 50C no more than 2 min. carb needles, engine bearings 3-4 min. We have found by doing this, bearings last longer, engine hold more consistent like new tune. We tank our engines before every big race weekend.

What kind of cleaning agent do you use?

2/3 simple green, 1/3 water, spray WD40 for 10 seconds, thats for our 1L tanks, same concept on the bigger tanks we use

clean critical components first, esspecially when doing multiple engines, bearings first with fresh solution, then piston/rod, then needles "removed" then carb, block/head.
use parts cleaner first on bearings, then WD40 and blow out, same with piston/rod this ensures the tank solution is out, add a drop or two of after run after installing bearings and spin, they should feel super smooth, like new, same process for piston and rod, be sure to add enough oil in piston bowl and move rod left to right on wrist pin.

Clean the pipes and headers in a crock pot with undiluted antifreeze. Leave the engine blocks and carbs alone.

For soaking with a crockpot/antifreeze the ENTIRE engine must come apart. Carb, needles, crank, bearings, EVERYTHING. All o-rings will be replaced after cleaning so pull them anyway. I would only soak the crankcase if you are replacing bearings.

I restore older air engines this way. They usually have years of baked on castor and dirt so they are torn down completely and left to soak on LOW heat for several days. For best results, use straight, undiluted, GREEN antifreeze. Do not add water or use the 50/50 mix, this will discolor the aluminum and can cause corrosion of steel parts.

After soaking, going over everything with a brush will usually get any crud left behind. Rinse completely in warm water, dry, and then oil all steel parts with after run or light oil to prevent flash rusting.

correct, the aluminum will turn dark, and then its a pain to get it off.
Crankcase -230 sec
carb-230 sec
Button-150 sec
Rear Bearing-100 sec-balls facing down
needles-200 sec

Low heat, at least 2 hours. More if the pipe is especially dirty.

I let ‘em cook for 2 days. Carbon inside the pipes and headers just falls out with a quick wash.
