Default Reds clutch or Protek clutch

Hello. I am new to the forums. I have 5 nitro vehicles, but have been out of the hobby for a while, but am trying to return.

I had a question about either the Reds or Protek offroad clutches (and there are other similar clutches: Novarossi...).

The info I have on the Protek clutch is that they suggest using a Protek clutchbell, which is 26.5mm width on inside diameter

and 15mm depth.

My question is, how difficult is it to fit something like an old HPI Savage clutchbell onto one of these clutches, if it is even possible?

My measurements for one of these old HPI bells is 26mm inside diameter, but only about 10mm-11m depth (and I could be a little off).

Has anyone done anything like this? I did try searching through the forums, and there was a thread with someone mentioning a Savage

clutch bell, and then the thread went on to spacing and shimming. I didn't quite understand all of this. Protek has a shim kit with a

clutch nut. Some of this seemed to be related to having too short of a crank.

My questions are, would an old HPI clutch bell fit on one of these clutches, or is there a problem with the depth of the

clutch bell?

I would appreciate any responses. Thanks.

Proteck makes like 3 or 4 different types of clutch bells. But what car do you have and what are you trying to do..

REDS Tetra V3 is great but I had an issue with coils of the clutch springs touching the inner side of the bell with MBX8. I had to remove some material from the springs to have enough clearance for the clutch to operate.

I've been using this combination for a long time. I've never noticed such a problem. Please note that the Mugen bell and the Reds bell are not the same.
The inner diameter is diffrent.
