Default The Official N.O.R.A. Oval Racer's Thread...Mount Vernon, WA

Come See Us at www.NoraRCOval.com

It's Winter Oval racing time for N.O.R.A up here in Mount Vernon, Washington. We are happy to announce that we will have Brand new Calandra Racing Concepts "Ozite' Carpet for this year. Our racing facility is located at the Skagit County Fairgrounds. We have a new AMB personal lap counting system with house transponders as well. We also have a new computer system. Our track dimenssions will be 90ft x 35ft.... We will be changing the length of our track over the coarse of the season... So some times we may be racing a short track set up and sometimes we will be running our 90ft setup.

If you haven't checked out our facility or seen an oval race, come check us out. We put on a good show. I would also like to invite some of the Touring cars and 1/12 scale drivers out their to come up and give it a try.

Our heaters have been fixed and our building was insulated yesterday. Everyone should be warm and toasty this year. Track set-up will be on Friday 10/28/05. We will be putting down our new Ozite. Sounds like we may be looking at a 90'x36' oval when we are done with set-up. Racing will start on Friday, November 4th. Should be a good program this year. Come up and see what we are all about.

If you come out racing on Nov 4th be sure to bring your table, chairs, power strips, extention cords. We have plenty of room and plenty of power, however, everyone must provide their own tables and chairs.

Jim someone from your group called down to SIR today and commented about an Oval series. We laid out an oval tonight and the dimensions are about spot-on for your carpet there. Looks like we can also make a tri-oval along with a third 65-36'
Let us know when a few guys want to come down and try out the track and we can get the track switched over. What is your regular race night? We discussed a possible Saturday night race.

You probably talked to Mike Turner about this. He is our Club VP. He would be the guy to talk to.

Just wondering. Do you have carpet too, or is it just an asphalt surface? If it is asphalt; how do foams hook up on the track?

The surface is asphalt only. As for foams they work great we have been runnning 1/12th scale for about a month now and it is gaining momentum fast.
Current tire of choice is red fronts and pink rears.

If a group of guys want to come down on a Saturday PM let us know and we can convert the track over to and Oval.

Put the new carpet down Friday night. The new carpet looks sweet. It was very smooth right off the roll. It is going to make for some extremely fast and competetive racing. The PVC pipe went together very nice. The driving line on the track is 132 feet. The track is about 75 feet by 36 feet. There is a 12 foot lane all the way around the track. Plenty of room for drifting and passing.

We have also made improvements to the PA system. There will be music before races and during intermission. We have installed speakers instead of the old blow horn style ones we had last year. The sound quality is a lot more crisp and clear.

The heat in our building works great. During track set-up last week, everyone was breaking a sweat from the heat that the new heaters put out.

First race is this coming Friday, Nov 4th. Doors open between 5:00-5:30pm...

Bring tables, chairs and extension cord. You can leave you tables and chairs on site if you plan to race weekly. Our building is locked except for race and practice nights.

With our new improvements, we are one of the nicest Oval racing facilities on the West Coast.

Default 1/12th scale.

Lot's of people getting into this. For those of you that have them just sitting around bring them out. Nascar bodies and 4 cell. Lets see how many we can get. Also I know some people who are looking for these so if you have one laying around let me know or bring them to the track.
Thanks for a good night.
Sorry Mr. Baldwin
