We're starting our Carpet Season with the Series #1 Opener on Friday October 21st, 2011. We're gonna run 2 10 race series that will be best 7 out of 10. Both Series #1 will run the exact same classes. To make the night go better we are cutting the amount of classes down from 11 to 9 and having all house transponders rebuilt and will have a backup scoring computer on hand at all times that will already be setup. We have purchased a high intensity LCD scoring board from Patrick Plueard that will allow everyone to see how much time is left in the race and who is running in the top 3. Although as per N.O.R.A. Bylaws Rookies do not aquire points, the board members will vote for a Rookie of the year in both series. It will be based on not only performance, but sportsmanship, attitude ect. Both 1/10th and 1/12th will have a 13.5 spec class. No timing boost ESC's allowed, Any 13.5 motor can be ran. Batteries must be 1s lipo. There will still be a pro 1/10th 10.5 with boost allowed as last year. Our 1/10th Sprint Class will run USAC style with no wings, despite the typo that got out on a few of the flyers and they will step up to a 13.5 motor, but will still run 2s lipo and No ESC boost. Check out the flyer for some new rules for 1/18th, such as new chassis and body rules for open wheel, and 1600mah 2s 20c Lipo's or 1600mah unmatched Nimh Batteries.
We have a new company handling our awards for the season and will be giving top 5 awards for each class, this new company does really nice work and I think the racers will be pleasantly suprised. In each ten race series there will be 3 throwaways, you must attend a minimum of 6 races to be eligable for an award. With 3 throwouts in each series, more people should be able to run for points and still attend those important family events or take a bit a of a break here and there.
This will be my first year ever as Carpet Oval Director and while there may be a few bumps, I'm looking forward to it as it is what I know best and the class that I have loved racing since 1990. I will do my best to run a professional efficient program. I'm Hoping to see some big car counts.

I think 1/12th scale will have better attendance this year, last year we kind of killed the class by splitting it into 10.5 pro and sportsman, the year before it was a solid class, this year will just be 13.5 spec, no timing boost esc's 1s Lipo
