Looking forward to some FW asphalt!
using paypal for entry fees is just plain silly, theres a cash machine 75 feet from the track, the tire rule is also silly, so I qual on used tires round 1 and 2, new tires round 3 and main, nothings changed. that said, I wasn't there, and this is just my opinion.

I think the PP was just an option...the Qual points, best 2 of 3
that suck...and tires control not sure why, the big races I can see the tires control ...the turnout is very low last year..does any body cares about the tires control in the club races?

Sunday Racing
Looking forward to racing Sundays again!
Good thing about Sunday is that FW won't conflict with anybody's schedule, most tracks race Saturday. Also clear and free with not conflicting with any of the CARS races.

Stuart and I came away from the meeting with Mike pumped for the upcoming season. We love our 1/12th scales on carpet in the winter, but outdoor racing means rubber tire touring cars on asphalt!
It sounds like you're already thinking through how to make best use of your tires on a race day. I hope you can regularly make it out, Ritchie. I'm sure many people will be interested to see how a quality veteran attacks the tire question.
So are we!
You raise a couple questions here, Franko. Allow me to paraphrase (apologies if my decoder ring missed your intent )
Q: It's club racing, what's the big deal?
A: Nothing about it being club racing makes the drive shorter, the track easier to setup and teardown, the car prep the week prior less meticulous, or the race day juggle less trying. My conviction is that we try as hard as possible to up the game. There are limits to the available energy, but we're going to do our best to offer serious racing in line with clear, reliable rules, every single race day, all season long. I think that's the best way to reward racers' efforts to attend.
Q: Why a tire program?
A: I'll go out on a limb and say tires have been a subject of preseason discussion every single year for the past five years. A tire program can have a number of different intents, some of them contradictory. Tire programs can be intended to 1) reduce uncertainty and level the playing field, 2) sell to a captive market, 3) control costs, or 4) allow for individual expertise to confer advantage.
Fantasy World has traditionally been a #4. It allows racers to run what they want on whatever budget suits them. While the freedom is nice, I think--in fact, I know--the budget part of the model has become an issue. This year's tire limit prioritizes #3, cost control, while allowing racers freedom to solve the problem according to their best abilities.
Last year's Sizzler really brought to the fore the full implication of what we were dealing with. Open tire and rocket round is basically the perfect recipe for spending the maximum amount on tires. (Next best, by the way, would be spec tires and rocket round.)
Q: Why qual points?
A: Qual points is really the best qualifying format for outdoor racing. Conditions change, and a best 2 of 3 rewards excellence across all three rounds, no matter the conditions, while being forgiving of an error or accident that might end a run early. The B main bump is the backstop for a second unfortunate event. Beyond that--we've all been there. Some days are just not for you. It may mean that from time to time, someone takes Q1 and Q2 and then chooses to sit out Q3 and save his or her tires for the main. Call it BS, or call it a rightly earned reward for excellence, your pick.

Bus clean up
This sunday is clean up day. I'll be getting there about 10:30. If you can make it around 11:00 that would be great. The lunch afterward is on me
