Nope, no ROAR for us this year Ed. They pissed me off! But seriously, it's sad, but ROAR isn't really recognized or utilized to any affect in this region any more.
We have bigger fish to fry......so to speak.

Ya'll or RCHR would benefit from that more so than us anyhow. Sportsman is generally our most popular class.

ROAR really does not provide much benefit for commercial owned tracks anymore. They are good for club operated tracks that need the insurance operate.

Nobody wants to spend $20 on a ROAR membership, even though its only about .0005% of what they spend on r/c.

Racers also don't like rules very much, if a newer, latest and greatest body, or battery comes out, but they are not legal by ROAR rules, everybody flips out and says ROAR sucks. At that point, why have rules when everything needs to be legal?

I smell what you be cookin.
It's all a bunch of BS and even though there are (or were) 2 ROAR elected officials in the state last year........one of them had stopped playing with toy cars and the other one could not make it to the race..........pretty poor if you ask me.

Either way, I'm not sure who cares what is ROAR legal or not anymore.......what with all the wonton packs and systems floating around.

THE TRUTH ABOUT THE VINTAGE NATIONALS...I (JOHN) ORIGINALLY TOLD GREG FROM R/C DRIVER MAGAZINE ABOUT OUR (RCHR'S) IDEA TO HOLD A RACE FOR THE VINTAGE CARS & ASKED GREG FOR SOME HELP WITH ADVERTISING THE EVENT. THIS IS GOING BACK OVER 4 YEARS AGO SINCE WE (RCHR) HELD OUR FIRST VINTAGE NATIONALS. HE SUGGESTED HIS GOOD BUUDY ERIC "THE SNAKE" REICKER TO TAKE THE TASK SINCE HE STILL HAS ALOT OF VINTAGE CARS AND HE IS PART OF RC DRIVER MAGAZINE. GREG GAVE ME ERICS NUMBER AND WE (MARK & JOHN) SPOKE TO ERIC ABOUT RUNNING AN ADD IN R/C DRIVER MAGAZINE...ONLY TO HELP US PROMOTE IT WITH THE SPONSORS & ADVERTISIMENT...BECAUSE IT WAS OUR FIRST BIG EVENT THAT WE (MARK & JOHN) WANTED TO HOLD..WHEN ERIC WAS NO LONGER A PART OF R/C DRIVER MAGAZINE, HE DECIDED THAT HE DESERVED HALF OF ALL OF THE ENTRY FEE MONEY FROM RCHR TO HELP HIM COVER ADVERTISING EXPENSES AND T-SHIRTS AND HIS TIME TO WORK WITH THE SPONSORS..WE ( JOHN & MARK)AGREED TO GIVE HIM A PAYCHECK FOR HELPING PROMOTE RCHR'S VINTAGE NATIONALS. AS THE YEARS PAST BOTH JOHN AND MARK AGREED FOR WHAT WE WERE PAYING ERIC REICKER,WE SHOULD BE DOING OURSELVES OR DEALING DIRECTLY WITH THE MAGAZINES AND SPONSORS BECAUSE ERIC WAS NO LONGER INVOLVED WITH ANY OF THE MAGAZINES..AND WE WERE GETTING FEEDBACK THAT ERIC "THE SNAKE" REICKER WAS COLLECTING MONEY FOR REPRODUCTION VINTAGE BODIES AND NOT DELIVERING THE GOODS...WE DIDN'T NEED THAT KIND OF A REPUTATION TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH OUR FACILITY. BESIDES THAT THE MAGAZINES WANT TO HELP US PROMOTE OUR HOBBY FOR FREE!! DO YOU THINK THAT ANY OF THE MAGAZINES EVER ASK FOR A NICKEL WHEN THEY SPONSOR A RACE AT ANYONES TRACK?? ERIC INTRUDED ON OUR EVENT TO THE POINT THAT HE PURCHASED THE VINTAGE NATIONAL.COM DOMAIN NAME AND CLAIMED THE EVENT TO BE HIS ...TO EVERYONE...EVEN LYING ABOUT IT IN A NATIONAL MAGAZINE LIKE CAR ACTION; WHERE HE IS WORKING...AND JUMPED IN ON PROMOTING A DATE TO HOLD THE EVENT.... BY BUILDING HIS OWN OUTDOOR TRACK.... AT THE OVAL TRACK AREA IN BETHEL... BECAUSE HE IS THE TREASURER OF THE CLUB THERE.....HMMM.. ALL OF RCHR'S RACERS CAN BE THE JUDGE OF THE TRUTH...NO MATTER WHAT ERIC "THE SNAKE" REICKER SAYS OR CLAIMS ABOUT THE VINTAGE NATIONALS...THE EVENT ORIGINATED AT RCHR BY JOHN & MARK. PERIOD! FOR THE PAST FOUR YEARS AND EVERY YEAR TO COME... IN SEPTEMBER...FOR AS LONG AS RCHR WILL BE...WHEN YOU SEE ERIC REIKER TELL HIM WHAT A LOOSER HE IS. ERIC POKE YOUR SELF IN THE EYE..SO YOU CAN READ THIS!!YOUR JUST A BROWN PILE OF CRAP UNDER MY SHOE! SORRY TO ALL OF OUR RACERS ABOUT THIS JACKASS TRYING TO TAKE AWAY AN EVENT THAT WE WILL ALWAYS BE PROUD TO CLAIM AT RCHR AS HOME OF THE "ORIGINAL" VINTAGE NATIONALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!RCHR ASKED ERIC REIKER TO HELP RCHR PROMOTE THE EVENT.. NOT STEAL IT. SNAKE!!!!!!

john, thanks for setting the record straight. i wondered what the truth was, it was clear something happened. the whole line of "we wanted a more period correct track" never sat well with me. i never heard anyone mention that they didn't like rchr's layouts, infact your vonats layouts have been my favorite layouts at rchr.

i hope you guys hold a vintage event this year.
i guess this means you're not running the oval anymore? i'm putting together a kranzal terminator to run there, plus restoring my dad's old sprint car that i got back form you a couple of years ago, as well as a rc10ce based edm.
i was hoping to race dirt oval with you guys soon.

the more vintage the merrier, but the truth does sour it a bit.

The Vonat event is special to me as this was the event @ RCHR that got me back into R/C racing. I have had a blast at RCHR & the Vonats lay-outs have been very period correct in my opinion.
My question is: is there any way to resolve this issue & bring the event back to it's original splendor? Is there any way for a mediated meeting between John, Mark & Eric to resolve the issues & hold the event to everyone's mutual benefit - especially the R/C racers that hold their vintage cars & this vintage event dear to their hearts?????
