IGT8 - Nitro 1/8 Scale GT

Thought it was time to start a new thread as IGT8 has agreed to continue to move forward with the X3 based product. They have had good success providing the right parts that should have been, and most racers have put on the car. I've raced the car since March last year and very happy with it. The car in the hands of Rino and DJ, have taken wins which shows the potential of this car.

I'll post in the next day or two, a set up that was working well at the Airtronics race in LA back in February. Maybe we can get Rino to share his from the win at the Winter Nationals as well. Or DJ's set up from his South American win.

In talking with the guys, they just got a new shipment of parts late last week, so parts should be a little easier to get.

Set Up Sheet

1 Attachment(s)
Attached is the set up sheet I was working on for the Airtronics race in LA. Track had 150+ entries, so good traction, so for club tracks, rear grip may need be to increased. But this is a good starting point.

IGT8 has the blank sheet that can be edited, if you want to do a sheet with just your setting.

Post questions here and we should be able to help.

Here's a pic to get this thread going. Car has carbon fiber steering plate. 1.9+ rear hubs. 10* c-hubs. Used it for the first time this weekend. Ran great. Handled great. Stopped great. Plenty of steering.

1966ss 04-23-2015 03:55 AM

Yeah I got an answer today. Are you running the option aluminum bearing insert in the bulkhead?

I'm not although I do have a pair. Rino runs them but I Learned a neat trick using the stock plastic inserts. 500ml of fuel last weekend at Floyd with no problem.

I've stayed away from the aluminum nose, but have had no issues since I super glue the plastic part in place and up the screw size to 3mm. Have not lost one in over a year.

Looks like IGT8's did well this past weekend:

I qualified 3rd and finished 3rd at the 1st HOA race in Lincoln, NE. Not bad while breaking in a new Picco GT engine and loosing one day to rain ....

Also, got Patrick up to 6th in the same race, his first time out racing the car .....

Grenade10 04-28-2015 12:32 PM

New IGT8 driver on board, car shipped out today ....... :sneaky::D:D

Looking forward to racing with you guys in a few weeks at the Texas Biggie. Got my plans worked out to fit the race in while visiting one of my daughters who lives in Dallas.

Will be interested to see how the IGT8 / Serpent GT / Mugen GT goes at the ROAR Nat's this week.

Pit-racer 04-29-2015 08:42 AM

Looks like a good battle shaping up at the ROAR Nationals ..... Watching from Colorado, but after 4 rounds order is: Serpent, Serpent, IGT8, Mugen All close and it will be interesting to see how the day unfolds. Desoto just gets past Rino for 2nd.

Good Luck to All the IGT8 Drivers .....

I've run 1000f/800r and 1200f/1000r in the shocks feels a little different, heavier was better at changing directions.

Diff oil, really is a preference. My car will oversteer on power out of a corner but easy to control. Really rotates well 60K/20k. I've also run lighter which seems to turn in better but is not as well planted out.

Also check your ride height. I started same front and rear, but have started to run 1 to 1 1/2 lower in the front, so try that first with your fluids before changing the shocks and or diff.

tonylunatic 05-02-2015 08:51 PM

I run 1000cst all 4 shocks

Diff 100k-front 15k-rear

And Thanks Bm

Hi there! I am a new IGT8 driver, actually first time running a 1/8th class. Got my brand new IGT8 to the US nationals ran all practice and qualifying sessions from Thursday to Saturday. Got in the C main, got in 2nd place, jumped to B and almost to the A, and what I most impressed me from the car is that I didn't touched it other just to make setup adjustments!!!! So reliability was perfect!!! It just needed a better driver :)!!! Started with the factory setup, then just changed the aluminum 10 degrees at the front, modified a bit the sway bars setup and that was it.. Just race and race!!!!

Another key factor to run the IGT8 is the guys from the IGT8 / Kosmic team (Rino, Manuel, Junior, DJ) Every single question I asked they took the time to guide me and made suggestions… It was simply amazing!!!! I believe I got to the right car/class!! Now planning to see any other race around Florida to get in!!!

What's the part numbers for the gold and silver springs. Also gold are for aluminum and silver for carbon?

Aluminum Shoes #10013 and come with the Gold and silver springs. Gold are 1.1, silver 1.0 and black are 0.90 (hardest to softest) Black will come with the carbon shoes. Part numbers for just the springs is #10100 Silver 1.0, #10101 Gold 1.1 and #10102 Black 0.90

Carbon shoes are just the standard and run the silver or black spring. Go softer with less traction and harder for more. Lets the car accelerate with out wheel spin.

Clutch Bell and Flywheel Set Up

1 Attachment(s)
At my last race a few weekends back, ended up setting up 5 clutch bells, and one of the guys suggested that maybe I do a write up and post, so they can refer back to it if needed.

So See Attached

The clutch and 2 speed is the same in the DM-1, X3 and IGT8

In talking with some of the IGT8 drivers, they think the IGT8 flywheel and clutch set up gives more snap out of the corners. I have not tried it yet but will. Set up is the same, just the flywheel and clutch shoes change.

Some of the guys liked them, particularly if they were in South Texas, Florida and South America.

I tried them and just thought they added weight to the car, and sprung weight is never good, but that is just my 2 cents.

1966ss 06-02-2015 06:53 PM

2nd place finish this weekend. Car was handling great.

IGT8 GT

If anyone looking for IGT8, I'm selling one.

Quick question fellas, What are the stock gearing for the IGT8, and what gearing would you suggest for a smaller sized track..

thks Q

I believe all the IGT8 cars come with 13/43 gear box and most of the time are running 14/18 - 44/48 for the pinion and spur. You could up the spur to 45/49 but there really is not any smaller pinions. So for small track, I would go to an engine with a little more low end torque, so you can accelerate out of the corners quicker.

Also, I have tightened the 2 speed so that it does not shift into 2nd when practicing on a small 1/10 scale parking lot track.

nomoneymoe 06-14-2015 07:45 PM

ok today is the first time I raced my Igt8. I experienced brake fade bad . I was looking at the brake pads I got with car, the rear disk is smaller and the full pad is not used. What is the best pad to use on the front and rear. I was looking at #89085 for the rears but not sure if its going to work. looking for some help.
