Looks to be inspired by the Volvo S60R racecar:

JLock 05-07-2014 08:11 AM

I remember back when I first got into onroad racing (electric and nitro), the Volvo S40 (electric) and Volvo S60 (nitro) were some of the best handling bodies, especially on parking lot club tracks. Hated it when they were discontinued. I have one of each in my body stash I have been holding onto for years. Can't wait for this one to come out. Dale Epps is the man when it comes to designing r/c bodies.

Volvo yes, wish it was the new v8supercar spec.

Remember back to my Thunder Tiger Ts4n and Volvo S40 body it had. Preferred the S40 to the S60 too, just seemed to handle better.

If it is a Volvo inspired body, I'll certainly be doing a Scott Maclaughlin body.
Hope it gives my nt1 some extra jandal.

LOL... yes the Jandal has gone quite viral since young Scotty's slip of the tongue on live tv.

Bundy_Bear,

You keep up with Australian V8 Supercar racing?? I started watching it a couple of years ago and love it over NASCAR (but not as much as F1). Love seeing the cars from Down Under that we can't get here in the States that are cool and powerful as heck!!!

JLock: I have grown up watching it and Bathurst is a yearly ritual of sitting down on the couch in front of the tv for the day watching the great race.

For it has lost it's shine in the last few years and am enjoying the F1 more with KERS and DRS making things more interesting to watch.

dan_vector 05-09-2014 12:13 AM

Another thing to test before the WC! New car, New engines, Different Tyre brand than I'm used too and now a new body as well.... Gonna be an interesting year! I hope they have the new anti-tuck system available for 200mm soon...

In a couple more years (was last year) the Aussie On Road Nationals will be held in Sydney again, and it's around the same time of year as the prestigious Bathurst 1000 at Mount Panorama (they make a point of not holding both ofn the same weekend). So if there was ever an inclination to visit Australia, you could kill a few birds with one stone and visit in October. Both Moorebank Raceway for RC and Mount Panorama are two of the best tracks for racing and I doubt you'd be disappointed.

The best thing about Bathurst is you can get up close to the cars with a paddock pass and it's a 5 day event with camp sites, shower blocks etc etc... Hope you like beer too!

If you collect caps, let me know I have two official (Marshal's caps) for V8 SuperCar caps sitting here on my desk.

I don´t think it is the VOLVO S60.....the car will be the new Mazda....read this that came up in Reds Rc

"Protoform Mazda 6GX spotted During last week’s IIC race in Las Vegas Protoform showed the follow-up model of the iconic Mazdaspeed6 body shell, the Mazda6 GX. It is understood that the body is designed to meet with the Global Body Spec rules, and it sports a “coupe-ish” roof line, a pronounced headlight/grille section, strengthening recessions behind the front fenders and around the door sections as well as a flat trunk section for improved airflow towards the rear wing....."

I don´t know how to upload the picture, but there is one...

The Mazda 6GX is an electric body not a nitro body and it has already been released. Plus this new one has a different nose then a Mazda 6 so I guess we will wait and see... :sneaky::sneaky:

dan_vector 05-13-2014 10:30 AM

Yep the 6GX is a 190mm electric body. I've been using them since January. Good body. This one will be different hopefully developed specifically for the worlds.

Some if the inspiration came from the cars in the Swedish Touring Car Championship. Very radical cars indeed.

You need one!

Fliggo 06-06-2014 01:40 PM

The STCC Volvo Polestar S60 is awesome!

I need one of these, and paint it in the volvo theme.

The way I abuse bodies...I'd say so! Maybe this will be the Answer! lol

Q-B0R0 B0MBER 06-08-2014 06:53 PM

VERY NICE DESIGN ON THIS BODY!!! THE FRONT LOOKS TO BE VERY AGGRESSIVE BUT ALSO SEEMS TO LOOK VERY SMOOTH OVER THE TOP AND SIDES OF THE BODY CANT WAIT TO GRAB ONE AND SEE HOW IT PERFORMS ON FLOWING HIGH SPEED TRACKS!!PROTOFORM ALWAYS SEEM TO STAY ON TOP OF THE GAME WITH THESE BODIES MY FAVORITE SO FAR IS P-37 LETS SEE IF THIS NEW CAR CAN BEAT THAT BODY

Scott Fisher 06-08-2014 10:17 PM

I ordered some of these. Anxious to give them a tray and see their characteristics when compared to the other offerings from Protoform.

dj apolaro 06-09-2014 06:48 AM

I already have them and they look pretty cool IMO. I am in the process of mounting them and will be doing some testing in 2 weeks.

I will let you know when I run it. I will be testing back to back again the SRS, as this is the body I currently run everywhere.

JOE SI 06-09-2014 05:05 PM

DJ,
How do you mount your srs?
Forward? Or do you line up the wheel wells?

dj apolaro 06-09-2014 05:45 PM

With the front wheels

Just got one of three mounted and ready with very quick paint job.. We leave for the 3rd round of the ENS in Hockenheim tomorrow. The track is very long and I think it will work great there.

A big thank you to Dale, Eric and everyone at Proline\Protoform.

Jeff

OvalKing#99 06-13-2014 11:33 AM

wow that has to be the ugliest body from protoform. It looks to have a lot of drag with all those airfoils too prob kills about 5mph on topend anyway protoform does make the best bodies period but this one bit the bullet for me I was hoping it was a touring ford fusion that would be an awesome looking touring ride

JOE SI 06-16-2014 05:37 AM

There were 2 of these at the track sunday, both guys said they made the car too twitchy, but rotated better than most bodies.
What I saw was 2 fast cars that had awesome rotation and cant wait to try one.

Thanks for the feedback. As with anything an aero change like that will need some chassis setup tweaks to suit the change in aero balance. I also look forward to playing with one. It's obviously been designed/aimed at high traction tracks with this years WC in mind.

How did it go? Do you know who of the front runners were running one or did they stick with the tired and tested SRS-N?

The track I was at sunday always has super high traction.

Hi
Just recieved mine with the post today , will be trying it this coming weekend on af low/medium (sunday) grip track. Let you know on next monday

Hi guys!

It seems only Sweden's Alexander Hagberg was willing to take a chance on running the all new PROTOform VRS-N at the hotly contested ENS Race at the Hockenheimring in Germany.

The results seemed extremely encouraging. Alexander qualified 8th overall and when the nitro-fumes settled he had bagged a 4th place finish - as well as the 3rd fastest lap in the A-Main!

I have not had a chance to communicate with him, but I'm sure he will be home today or tomorrow and hopefully he'll have some valuable information for me.

Forgot, but 1 was on a nt1 and the other on a 747. They both said too twitchy but great rotation.
The xray only had it on for 2-3min but the guy with 747 ran it the whole day

dj apolaro 06-19-2014 06:20 AM

So I have mounted the body and can see a few differences already, just in the way it coupd be mounted. I normally mount the SRS with the front wheels. If you do the same with this body, it will be very forward compared to the SRS. I am going to tey a few positions including mounting it a little more back. I will let you know after this weekend.

Same finding here DJ, so I did two bodies one with the front wheels and the other 5mm back. One question how are you setting the rear wing?? flush with rear of body or xx backwards??
