Scott, that is a real interesting one to stick in the back of my head just in case I run into a similiar problem...I don't think I would have checked that for a long time....

that's the main reason why the prospec didn't come with a titanium main shaft ;)
the hallow steel works pretty good though.

I check the shimming...... I admit my clutch bell clearance is too narrow ( very little play ).

A friend of mine suspect the one way bearing on 1st Spur Gear.

I have seen this problem quite a bit after cleaning the car up. The one way bearing on the 2 speed shaft is over lubed or wet from cleaning. Take the hub off and clean the bearing out, then put (1 drop of oil back on it).

Okey... thanks guys !!! ;) ;) It's either the main shaft or one way bearing. I change the one way bearing first and test the result.

You may have been the one that called this to my attention. Either way, I am now running a skyline hollow steel shaft, but I am going to try the Kfactory hardened aluminum version. I am going to weigh them both this weekend and see which is lighter.

Slotmachine reduce the size of your sig, its way too big

one way vs. diff???

In what scenerios would you run a front diff instead of a one way? And, should your front diff oil be the same as the rear??? I run 50k in the rear and thinking about trying a front diff instead of the one way. Thanks!

Derby Bros Racing 02-09-2006 12:54 PM

the front diff is used for small technical tracks where used of brakes is a must. generally, the front diff should be stiffer than the rear (i.e. 50k front, 30k rear). this makes it easier coming out of the turn on power. if the rear is stiffer than the front, the rear will bite more coming out of the turn making the car want to spin out.

MikeyG 02-09-2006 01:05 PM

good info...Thanks. Are there many racers who use the same diff oil in each (i.e. 50k r & f)?

Derby Bros Racing 02-09-2006 01:13 PM

i don't know if there is a lot using the same for the diff, but i've tried it before and i didn't have much luck with it. i like the front to be stiffer as it makes the car easier to drive aggressively.

What up Tige how ya been

devious17 02-10-2006 05:39 AM

today I finally put an end to mending my prospec chassis  . Was trying out new setup on the prospec ,front one wat, rear 50k diff, 50wt front and rear dampers on blue mugen springs, 3 holes from top damper mouting and 3 rear.

Did a high velocity sweeper and the car wandered a bit and got planted onto the metal fencing.Prospec chassis bent to the shape resembling a Z ! front right upright torn clean from the pivot balls, rear right lower arm broken at the hinge pin. Broken T/B servo mount

looks like I have to make use of the 3mm chassis now. The prospec 4mm now looks like a crumpled card board after being hammered flat

Scott Fisher 02-10-2006 10:39 AM

I have two prospec used chassis that are useable. At least one of them is for sure. Neither is perfectly flat. One of them (without pins) I changed because of a problem that I thought the chassis was tweeked. It really isn't that bad, but I never tried the chassis again. The other chassis I just changed before a big race. The car handled perfectly. If you PM me your address and paypal me six dollars (assuming you live in the continental USA) to cover the mailing, I will send them to you.

My paypal is [email protected]
