I hate to say it, but i hope the V1-rr (which i have) is gonna be able to hang with the MTX-3. I know I know I know; "dont worry about that stuff, its a never ending cycle...." I realize that, but, I still cant help thinking it once in a while. ;)

The pipe is a REX pipe and the header is the old mugen header. I don't know the part number for the pipe but I do know it is acopy of the Novarossi "bottom end" pipe for .12 engines. I have the same one on my MST-1 and it flies.

I think Ultimate Hobbies will be teh place to get this kit. Tehy consistently price kits well below their competitors so I won't understand if they don't do the same with this car. I expect a best price of just shy of $400. It might not be Ultimate who knows.

P.S.

My LHS has NTC3s for $149.99..yes $149.99!

stefan 10-23-2002 09:07 PM

all our lhs' are blowing out ntc3's.

i guess the honeymoon is over

ME-student 10-23-2002 09:14 PM

Racing4Evo: can you tell me where you live and what is your LHS's name and address? thanks:D

Manticore 10-23-2002 09:19 PM

our local mugen dealer revealed that mugen first releases approx 5000 kits and half of them will go to north america.

For those who are hungry for this kit and in north america should be able to get it in early Nov from their LHS.

manticore do you have yours already? Is it coming with pipe and header?

everything looks good except the belt tensioner looks suspect.

Manticore 10-24-2002 06:03 PM

not yet, I think I will not rush for it as the price in Hong Kong shop offering is a bit high at the moment.

this exact belt tensioner worked great on the MTX 2, MRX2, MRX 3 and Avance, I'M SURE IT'LL WORK FINE ON THIS CAR

Racing4Evo 10-24-2002 06:32 PM

Not true...the belt tensioner is crap on the MRX-3. You have to run it loose in order to keep the wire from breaking. I don't know how it will fair on the MTX-3..maybe better. If you want bulletproof, the Kawahara belt tensioner is the way.

tensioner

If you guys are talking about the side belt tensioner, I've had no problems with it at all. I've gone through 1 side belt in 8 months.

yes the stock belt tensioner is the best especially it has less stress to the belt under acceleration or brake.

the static type is too stressful to the belt.

I wonder which is more expensive. belt or wire?

JordanC 10-24-2002 08:02 PM

belts

I haven't even had a problem with the wire on my MTX2 though. It seems to work really well. One of the guys had a problem with the bearings at the Aussies the other week, but that the biggest issue i've seen with it at all. If you want to spend some money, invest in the Kawahara front belt tensioner. Since i put that on the car i haven't done a front belt, pulley or bearing in the centre block.... Not even going to mention the one way pulley doesn't get nearly as much crap in it either!

I heard Mugen instruction manuals are translated from Japanese pretty poorly and are hard to understand. Is this true?
