Default 1/8 GT Front/Rear Diff Ratio Options?

Alright, Gents
Got so much help with my Serpent traction issue I thought I'd throw this one out and see if anybody can help.

Was at the track (parking lot fun racing) and a pretty sharp RC guy threw this out and has me stumped.

He said there's a set of gears not made by Kyosho that will take the diff ratio from 4.xx to I believe he said 2.71 +/-. Definitely in the 2 point something range.

Now these guys are like fisherman not giving up their favorite holes. When not racing we like to mess with top speed run set ups over long distances. This gear ratio certainly would be fun to try out while doing T and E work.

Does anybody have any ideas on other than Kyosho diff gear sets that will work in the Kyosho GT series cars that would make this much difference in top end speeds?

I have no idea but are you sure the stock ratio is 4. something? Most difs are 2.x something.

Edit: Found a post on another site that says the Inferno diff ratio is 3.3076923076923075

Wing you are exactly right, the ring in the kyosho is 43 & the pinion is 13... 43 divided by 13 = 3.3

In the Kyosho you can use OFNA diff parts as well. OFNA has a 45 to 10 option that comes in the Jammin X2 line and some of the newer buggies and truggies. that would be for drag or very short runs. I've seen guys put in RC8 diffs inside both OFNA and Kyosho for sand drag vehicles and those are 4.3:1 ratios (a lot of shimming has to be done).

OK 3.3 in the stock set-ups. I should have confirmed that. Thanks

He seemed pretty certain he can get it to the mid 2s. Hmmm
