I know some people like to play with the teeth spread, but I stay with 6 tooth spread, and I've never had any problems using the alum pin gear. In regards to chassis flex affecting the gear mesh, you've really gotta be aiming for the wall to flex the chassis that bad, especially at that spot.
thats only cause your good blue shirt one day i'll be like that

I had never busted a 2nd gear till the other day when I did 2. I have a 4mm chassis, perfect mesh, no end point issues, etc etc. What I did find however was that I had a 0.6mm gap from the 2nd gear shoes to the 2nd gear housing. I am pretty sure that this was this issue as I have never had a problem until recently.

Will report back once its tested.

All of the gears are the same diameter so adding a tooth will not change anything. The smallest first gear is the same size as the largest first gear and the same thing for the second gears.

Thats a very good idea using the digital caliper on that gap! I never thought about that. Will for sure do that when assembling.

What gap are you going to set it to btw.

Get some feeler gauges. Set is so its less than 0.1mm but its not rubbing. Thats what I normally do when I dont have brainfade.

Getting ready for a new season here and I have a question re. front diff vs solid spool.

I never tried a spool but would liek to know if it would be better for this track ?

As for oneway, just too difficult for me at this point.

Thanks

I am going to have custom made solid front axles (spool) for the MTX4 next week. I have been making these for 1/8 scale cars and a few of the 1/10 touring but this will be the first time for the MTX4 due to the way that the front pulley is held onto the front drive.

I think you will find the car to be a lot easier to drive and the locked front will allow you to brake later and still stay on the line.

Thanks Lee, I found that the front diff made the car twitchy. Maybe the locked spool will help.

I sent you a PM.

Anybody know what to improve car handling after minutes 25 ? I have serious handling problem after 25 minutes racing. ( I still have 20 minutes to go ). The car become unstable especially off throttle while doing tight cornering. The grip from rear tires is unbearable .

Thanks for your suggestions.

( I find out WHEN rear tires become same size like front, the sucks handling will occur. )

37 shore, 4mm split. ( 61 front - 65 rear ) and 24T side pulley.

Is it helpful to switch 25T front side pulleys ?

I start out with the tires the same size in the main so it gets better as the main goes on. I have never ran the car with smaller fronts then the rear. I use the 25t side gear.
