Does shorting the stinger of the pipe affect it's performance?

Having no brick walls along the straight certainly helps!! How is EGR now-a-days??

dtm: what do you mean? Does it mean that by shorting the stinger will make the engine run leaner, will it affect the performance of the pipe or make the engine more diffcult to tuned?

Actually, the length of the stinger for optimum performance is very much dependent on your engine's exhaust port area... at least this is what I read...
If you are really interested, this is a page on tuned pipes for model aircrafts, more or less similiar...
You have to enable your Javascripts for this page...

In real world terms.....you will not notice any difference in performance or tuning

BTW I'm talking about taking less than 5mm off the stinger.....not removing it completely.

Default Outlaw Pipes.

Does anyone know which pipe gives the best power with standard unmodded mt-12 engines? I am currently running a novarossi 51603 high speed. I don't need the pipe to be Roar legal.

Thanks guys for the info, how about enlarging the hole of the stinger let say from 5mm to 6mm. I think the pipe will be louder but will it boost the power or something.
