Hopefully somebody can help me on this issue.
i have two cars, one which I use for testing (it's a 3.1 but the only thing it doesn't have is the 3.0 transmission, it still has the old 2.0 gearbox. My main car has the 3.0 gearbox.
anyhow, I always found my 2 speed on both was fine. Both 'kicked' very well (maybe the 3.0 box was slightly sharper but i never had issues with the 2.0 box). Anyhow...
i rebuilt the 2 speed on the 2.0 gearbox. Now when it changes gears it sounds something like:
bwaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-bwabwbwbwbwbwaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Normally it's the standard 'kick' bwaaaaaaAAAAAAAA-BWaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I Can't figure what is causing it... I've never had anything but a sharp clean gear change on both gearboxes. What could it be? I've turned both screws out identical amounts of turns. One drop of one way oil. Cleaned the shaft prior to putting the housing on, etc etc.. could it be the shoes slipping on the bell? Or could it be the one way?

If it is stuttering to shift, my first guess would be the rollers and set screws. Make sure the shaft has very little play and then preload the rollers until the gap is very small.

I found it took getting the trans clutch shoe springs to fit 'freely' in the shoes. My Cobra 1.0 wouldn't cooperate until I got them to be a clean 'drop-in without needing to be pushed into the holes'. Any 'friction fit' doesn't let the shoes move freely under 'heat'.....'vibration' etc they face. After that' it's been shifting fine. (my first car had 'the white shoes'.....I bought a set of the later 'black shoes' but haven't used them to see if those springs fit easier)

Default Rtr to 3.0

Hello guys , i have a GT rtr kit , is it worth spending $200 on the suspension upgrade for the 3.0?
Is the gear any different on rtr vs 3.0 kit ?

will make a massive difference. Obviously the 3.1 is the latest suspension upgrade but it's the 3.0 that has all the important changes to the geometry. If you were To go 3.1 you'd need the 3.0 and then it's new towers, extensions and upper mounts. Minimal difference from 3.0 to 3.1 compared to the upgrade from rtr to 3.0.

i have a spare minimal use 3.0 upgrade if interested PM me. Includes everything in the actual 3.0 upgrade kit.

how did you make them a clean drop-in? Did you drill out a slightly bigger hole in the shoes?

In the future I may have to 'ream the bore' but, no, I was told that the springs from the Kyosho 'Evolva' were the fix !!!!!

Grrr. I’m a dope. I was attaching the front assembly to the chassis when I realized I forgot to include the bumper plate. I *never* use a power screw driver but the 4x12s were tough going in, and, well, I stripped not one, but two of them. Now I’m stuck. I need the bumper.

Any tips to try and get them out? Frustrating!!! Was making good progress after reading this entire thread. Was gonna track it this weekend.

I would try drill bit matching screw thread size....
Drill only through screw far enough to ‘pop head off’, pull apart assembly and then use pliers to remove offending bolt shaft.....then try again !! 😎

I just got a RTR GT, but I dont want to run the pull-start motor. I want to use my other Novarossie engines and a starter box.

What engine mounts can be used with the RTR chassis? I already got the engine mounts for the GT kit version but they dont fit the rtr chassis.

Kinda sux. Had I known, I would have got the kit instead...
