747 to arrive at my door next week! I am very excited to get this going! I've thumbed through the thread here and haven't really seen any feedback as far as upgrades or spares. Is the car that good? Its a Serpent so I trust this may be true Looks to me like the chassis weight is pretty much it. I am new to the class and it currently is not being ran where I live, can someone point me in a direction as far as rules for this class?

we spoke last Sunday 16th of June at the MAC Baanbrekers track. I am a member of the MAC baanbrekers driving a 747 and I am interested in the setup you were driving. Can you please post it on the Serpent webiste?
Many thanks,
Frank.

With regards to rules, The basic Rules are as follows:
- Minimum weight - 1725g
- Wing Height - with the body mounted on a level surface, place one end of a small level on the roof of the body and the other on various locations on the wing. The wing can not be taller than the roof of the body.
- The rear of the body may not be cut out higher than 55mm above the ground, measured with the chassis resting on 20mm high blocks.
- Vehicle Width - 200 without body without stinger, 205mm with body with stinger
- Fuel Capacity - 75cc
These are the basic items we check at the Great Lakes Challenge in Toledo, Ohio.

Thanks a ton guys! That helps me out. I've been driving this 747 and man is it awesome. Still dialing it in but I'm close.

I am still building my kit, I have a new Xceed zx12 waiting to rock. I have heard that it is the fast engine. Time will tell. I am going to have to get a club motor and save the fast for bigger events.

Right now I have a RB Mods .12 but I will be getting either a Novarossi Keep On or the new Picco Torque. Its a coin toss as of right now but since all my other Serpents have Novas I'm leaning towards the Keep On. Can't go wrong with Novarossi!

I just started building my 747 this past week. I plan to put the aluminum pulleys on the car, I have found in my past experience with other cars this is not a bad practice I also am getting two of the 25g chassis weights. From watching other 747's run at our track in Toledo the car is really good.

Has anyone had trouble trying to get their 747s drivetrain to run nice and free? I've tried everything, low friction belts, loosening the tension. Car has ceramic bearings all round.
No matter what I try the drivetrain just seems stiff and doesn't roll anywhere near as free as my old mugen.
Any tips appreciated!

Hi Aza, yes I am. Is it worth looking at the alloy ones?

I have checked straight after a run, it is still tight when the car is warm.
If I remove the side belt the drivetrain is a lot more free. I have tried different side belts without success.

If it gets better with the side belt off check the front drive train, check the front belt it rubs on the chassis I have milled the chassis out to stop it. you will also see signs of this on the front belt.
