2wd nitro 235mm why not 200mm?
what is the difference between 235mm nitro chassis and 200mm chassis?
specifically what allows 235mm chassis to race 2wd? why not 200mm nitro touring? im referring to mugen avance and serpent impact and picco rs600 was offered in 2wd as well. why not kyosho v one or hpi or whatever else? |

Serpent Impact & Serpent Impulse is the exact same chassis. Only difference was the wheel outputs. Impact the quick release wheels, Impact the 200mm wheels. 235 class used the larger engine .15, The Impulse .12 200mm. In the states you'll find that some track do run 235mm. I think Europe you'll find more runnung the 235mm. And yes the 235mm class died in the US.

rear track width? is that all? impulse and impact have the same layout?
ill definitely look up all of that! what about the chassis or upper deck layout or the suspension? of course im asking because i want to run 2wd on my kyosho v one rr its just collecting dust and is outdated at this point. |
The class died cause alot of people couldn't handle the 2wd cars. They wanted the 4wd help. I loved the 2wd class. My Impact was on rails with the FPS ball diff. Also the Impact and Impulse used the same suspension parts up front and the same shocks. The chassis and top plates were not the same.

You are lucky to find all the parts now-a-days!!! Models are some 18 years old. And yes I still have the three on my shelve!! W/Original motors from Mega, The Vector has a RB C7. |
Thanks im on it!
Anyone seen/own/heard of a touring car conversion to 2wd? |
With the last 235mm EC ever Julius Kolf had transformed his 720 into a 235mm car just by using the (modified) suspension of an 835

235mm
This was a great class! Still have 3 Mugen Avance. We should rally and bring this class back!

There was this push a couple of years ago with 220mm. There were a couple of companies that made kits that converted a 200mm car to 220mm. It did not take off as well as many thought, fizzed and I believe is dead. 235mm 2wd was the shiznit back in the day (it is what helped me become a better driver).

Bringing the class back would be great!!! I have two (2) 2wd Serpent Impacts and just picked up a 4wd rolling chassis with some parts for $25 from a guy moving from my area. However, our problem would be replacement parts for when you break something. We might be able to mod some parts from some of the current cars to fit but some we would be just a$$ed out.
As to parts ......... I have cases of stuff and even purchsed a good chunk of stuff when distribution changed a few years back. If you need something I'm sure I have it. One of the best options for this car was to run the OSTZ .18 as it has much better power, still very light. Probably have 2-3 sets of the big block to small block mounts. :D:D:D:D |
and a couple of years ago 200 mm tourings were widened to 220 mm
k factory, knack racing, and kawahara (tires and body only) were marketing them as a GPR class and found this: hkshobby.com kamikazetoysandhobbies.com |
kamikazetoysandhobbies.com sells 220 mm conversion for xray nt1
hkshobby.com sells 220 mm conversion for kyosho v one rrr |
tcmodels.net sells:
220 mm conversion kits for serpent, mugen, kyosho, and xray (& replacement parts for the conversion kits) tires & wheels bodies for $12.90!?!? |
has anyone purchased/installed tcmodels 220 mm conversion kit?
there are youtube videos of the knack racing 220 mm conversion kit. what about tcmodels? |
Yep, have converted 2 NT1's using the tcmodels conversion kit. Also have used one of their bodies, they are a bit thin. Kamtec do a very good body.

Here in the uk we have a national series called Sports GT which allows the use of both 235mm and 220mm chassis, im sure all the cars now are 220mm converted from 200mm chassis. Only allowed braking on the rear wheels so a oneway has to be used some where in the transmission, .15 engines and closed cockpit GT shells. Awesome to drive and watch race. |

Yes i have just got the conversion for my 733, its a Team C kit.
---- also, how wide (mm) were the old 235 mm wheels/tires? im new to 220 mm so thanks for all of this help |
Have had no problems with the quality of the parts in the kit. A very simple and easy conversion to do. All the parts fitted perfectly. You will however need to get a one-way for the front if you are running to UK rules as front wheel braking is not allowed.

The quality is just as good as the original parts they replace, and they make allready great cars even better.
