Why are you so afraid of the composite shock bodies? Run them as is.

If you have aluminum shocks, while it may not break during an impact, something else might break.

What we use is a servo extender. This servo extender connects to the receiver and the other end of the servo extender connects to the receiver battery pack. Just unplug the receiver battery connector from the servo extender plug to switch off and plug it to switch on.

Yep. We have a little short extension lead that is plugged into the battery space on the receiver. Then we just plug the battery into the other end and unplug it when finished.

This is better than plugging the battery directly into the receiver as it helps prevent the receiver pins from becoming damaged. Also, if you wrap the receiver up in balloons etc to protect it from the elements and general dirt/fuel then it becomes a necessity.

If you really want you can just drill a couple of holes somewhere on the radio plate and mount a switch.

Stripping the thread by adjusting the shock tension with the shock collars will never happen.

You only need to be careful when you lock the shock cap onto the shock body as per step 4.7 on page 18 of the assembly manual.

What I do is I would turn the shock cap CCW on the top of the shock body (after filling the shock oil) until I feel a certain "click". This would indicate that you got the start of the threading groove on the shock body. Then start to turn down and tighten the shock cap CW.
