Many thanks in advance!

YES! you have to. It is actually not in the manual. Go to www.mytsn.com and search for the 710, i believe it's an additional flyer or instruction sheet.

The shim is only needed with the older black 1st gear pinion. The newer gold or silver ones do not need it.

From Babelfish translation :

The Snake 710 RC is the new version of the 710: it profits from the experiment of the TEAM at the time of its first season when it practically very gained! Champion of Europe, Champion of France, conveys year, the 710 receives some improvements aiming at ensuring its supremacy! Stage of anti-roll aluminum bar, blocking of front free wheel, bars anti-roll back 2.5+3mm, but also new safe-servo and cast solid driving support! It is ready to gain!

FINALLY!!!!

Well at last, after about 16 months of trying, I managed to break my original thin rear shock tower - I went too fast into the chicane at my circuit, flew over a curb and landed squarely on the next curb, right on the rear tower  Now the rear section of my body shell is bent completely out of shape  Never mind - I'll probably be using the 2,1 Stratus this weekend :D

Also I tried out the 21 tooth alu side pulley - man this made a huge difference in the long left hand corner leading onto the straight - I could get onto the gas much, much earlier than normal and the car held a much tighter line at the exit. I thought the motor was down on power at first!
I ran the tyres with a 2mm split - seems to be a keeper for me.

Cheers, Mark.

Sorry to hear you have finally been able to break the shock tower, I'm still trying.

The 21T is a huge improvement, allows you to be much more agressive with the throttle and still maintain the best line. Are you also using the front diff ? I've found this recently to be a great advantage on all tracks since I change to the 3 racing friction collar.

I was stunned at the difference it made in the fast sweeper - I'm looking forward to using it in anger tomorrow.

I am using the front diff and the two part diff collar. What difference did the 3 racing part make for you?

Cheers, Mark.

perhaps in FAQ 2.4 you can describe the correct breaking procedure :D :D

It's took me a while to adjust my driving to suit the advantage we now have with this pulley.

The 3Racing diff collar has a teflon ring inside the collar and in my opinion this is makes it more tunable and improves consistency through the race. Having said that I would rather use the new part that Rene said is on the way as Serpent quality is No1, price's on the other hand could be revised i think.

Unfortunately it was a fluke

It certainly took me by surprise - I couldn't understand why the car was keeping so tight through the big sweeper and why on power it didn't drift out as much as normal!

Mark, what was your actual tire sizes, front and rear? I want to run out a O.D. table with these gears.

Oh right ... well, the team drivers started with the *spit* 3Racing ones and then now have the prototype Serpent ones. You're both right then, we'll have to wait. Same with the shocks too.

The shim is only needed with the older black 1st gear pinion. The newer gold or silver ones do not need it.

Could someone pls confim this?
What is the difference between the older and the newer first gear pinions beside the color? How can I be 100% sure if I have to use the shim or not? I want to get it right, so please advice again...

Serpent Build

Hi all,

I purchased a second hand 710 last weekend and have a few questions regarding the (re) build. The car came with new (optional) aluminium fr anti roll bar supports, however there is quite a bit of binding when I set them on the pins. Any ideas?

I also noticed that the new kits have orange-coated bearings, mine are purple, have there been different versions of the kit since its commercialisation?

The quality of the kit is quite remarkable, and I am starting to understand what all the fuss is about! Can't wait to hit the tarmac this week!

The older pinions (brownish color) must use shim for the first gear. The newer pinions (light grey or the newest one is silver) already machined with as if it were shim in it.

Remove the orange coating inside that hole were the pin goes just enough to make sure no binding.

The batch with its purple bearing has some improvement along the way. The orange bearing batch has the most updated improvement including thicker rear shock tower until now.

Have guys with the low CG chassis found any improvement in lap times?

My 710 is flying at the moment, a practice run today saw my best laps times and I really enjoyed pulling away from the National champ;) Now all I need is to do that on a race day!!

Greg M 06-06-2005 12:32 AM

Has anyone tried a Lipo battery to power their radio gear?

For me the car is much more settled and easier to drive with the new chassis. I don't know if this makes much difference in individual lap times, but means that I can driver more consistent.

Works for me :D

Greg M 06-06-2005 01:03 AM

Thanks Mark, I may have to look at getting one.
I just hope if I spend lots of $$ on my 710 that a new car doesn't come out before the Worlds.

Pyramid...I believe the black pinions used the shim. The brownish and silver ones don't require a shim.

In Hong Kong? Both Harmony and Wing Jet model are the biggest serpent dealer in Hong Kong... of course without counting World Model as the Asia distributor which you can go direct if don't mine paying retail.. What you are looking for is already widely available..

Hi guys,

I am planning on upgrading my stock composite shocks to aluminium shocks. Can anyone tell me what's the best shock/spring for this car and what company make them? Thank you!

I think the only choice for you is the products from Serepent unless you can find the one from East.
it will be better to use one from Serpent.

Tweak with new Team Chassis

Hi!

I´ve just converted my 710 to the new team chassis. After the assembly I´ve recognized a slight front/back wobble when the chassis sits on the Hudy board w/o wheels. I´ve released the radio deck and the front and rear suspension and it turned out that the radio deck bents the alu chassis a little bit. When the radio deck is loosened, the chassis sits flat on th Hudy board.
Is there someting I can do about it, or is it nothing I need to be concerned about?

Many thanks in advance!

What type of X-brace are you using.. i heard the plastic and the alu differ in size... so the chassis will bend if one of both is smaller...

Even if you got it straight when brand new, it will still tweak/wobble between front and back after, let's say, 1 hour of use. NOT between right and left! which is not a good sign.

They way you screw down both top deck and all the bulkheads (serpent called it bearing blocks) also effect how straight your chassis will be when they are new.

Some also tought the way the starter box design will bent the chassis on use.

It happens to all other brand car using aluminum chassis.
