Even though I use weighted flyweights and the harder spring (I like that aggressive punch), I have not experienced unbalanced clutch shoe wear. What I have experienced is a warping of the Centax-3 support washer (part 802504). It's not a frequent event but it does happen every once in a while. In fact that part seems to last as long as the spacer thrustbearing (909516) does. That gets a nice groove cut into it after a while and the clutch bell cannot move forward to it's full extent.

I wonder if what Julius mentioned is causing the problem? Do others using an un-moded Centax III have these problems? :|

The 909516 parts is wearing out here too. It's not so bad as to become unusual, but when I have to add or remove shims at the front of the clutch, it's always a bit of a pain to get the thrust bearing off...

802504 is doing fine though. Still have the original part that came with the kit.

Yes, the edges are a little bit bigger. What I did for mine is I used by lexan body curved scissors (any scissors will do I think) and trim the membrane edges (careful, not too much) at the edges around so that they do not get cut from the threading of the cap. My apologies for not rembering to include that bit. :o :) When the cap is on top, the rubber membrane just fits nicely.

Good advise Julius. Experimenting with clutch setups is not for the faint hearted. Especially for the other older people. :D

Jag, my flywheel pins are also showing and they do not rub the clutchbell if the clutch bell is spaced out correctly. If yours is rubbing against the pin, then you need to shim the clutch bell correctty as per the manual and as per Glenn Cauley's article regardless if your clutch has worn down.

Yes, like Qlone, I found the 909516 thrustbearing spacer getting grooved also and it impedes the movement of the cluth bell axially. Found that out in one of my other clutch assembly on the other engine about 2 weeks ago. I changed it and the clutch works smoothly now. It looks like the spacer gets cut and grooved by the thin shims you use for the clutch spacing. I guess that part needs to be checked every now and then.

No problems with the 802504 warping...

Try more rear camber. -2 sounds a little bit little. Basically, try and set the camber according to your track layout. Run a few rounds and observe the camber wear. Adjust negative camber accordingly to get the rear tires to wear at least in a flat profile or a little coning (smaller tire diameter on the inside and bigger on the outside). Front tires, the wear profile can be flat.

I would also try a harder rear sway bar setting. Gives the car better mid corner steering and mid corner speed. If you have, try the 2.5mm optional rear sway bar. It usually does wonders. Try and mount it using the inside mount on the lower arm (outside mount on the lower arm is stock setting) which makes the sway bar a little softer. If you still find it a little too hard, then try the stock 2.0mm bar that comes with the kit.

BTW, you mention you use 35wt shock oil. How many holes? 1.0mm or 1.2mm holes in the piston?

Yes, I know what you mean re: entered for race so need to focus. I find the same problems when I'm trying to race and at the same time think of which video footage to shoot for 3Hobby.
