Default 2011 Ipanema GT Nationals Cancelled?

Rumor has it that the 2011 Ipanema GT Nationals in Houston have been cancelled. Has anyone heard otherwise? I was really looking forward to some stiff competition and a large turnout.

Default GT NATIONALS CANCELLED!!!!

OFFICIAL STATMENT IS THE RACE IS CANCELLED.

After reading rumor posted I called the owner and race director at Mikes Hobbies, in Porter and they got a phone call this morning stating that they were not going to have the race.

I also asked if any reason was given for the cancellation, and none was given. This is from the official race director at Mikes.

TOTALLY BLOWS!!!

What radio and battery set-up where you running on that car ?
I've seen many Kyotes run-away because of the rtr, four AA cell,
battery holder. Some others had run-aways because of cheap
Spectrum radio systems.

That's what I am suspecting. When a customer asks me what they should upgrade first, I always tell them to get a good receiver pack because those AA's are notorious for dumping really quick, and also I have seen cases where one of the AA's fell out of the holder.

I would add a throttle return spring to your list and a fail-safe unit

I had a throttle return spring. Unfortunately, these rtr servos are not as smooth as any aftermarket ones and takes a bit more torq to return to close position with zero power.

To make that a true GT car, you will need a two speed tranny, body mounts , short rear shocks and a body and tires.
