On my GT2 I also needed to move the tank forward for clutch bell clearance (I'm assuming the same would be required for the shorter chassis). The chassis is made from much better materials along with everything else.

On my Thunder Tiger I used a dremal to sink the center shaft bearings deeper into the housings so I wouldn't have to alter the pan. I shimmed the whole transmission upward 3/16 to provide space fo the 1st gear spur. Then I just got the Associated fuel tank that is taller but not as long to clear the 2-speed clutch bell.

Both .28s & .21s seem to have different advantages to them.
At Ipanema Sports GT events, you can use any header/pipe combo you want in our "Open" or "Spec" class.
so some onroad engine work well with the weight of these car because friend of mine have O.S. .21onroad and its not doing the job in his DM-1, my other friend have hyper 9 port not doing the job as well they can't keep up with my GO-7port, i like my GO but i sort of looking at the picco & nova onroad engines...kinda miss the speed of my mrx4x so im looking for opinions thanks

The DM 1 is probably a pound or more heavier than the GT2. With a bunch of money it might be possible to cut a half pound off the car. The Ipanema body alone probably weighs a couple of ounces less than the Protoform.

The new OS .25 might be the perfect compromise for the DM 1, then again the guys at Ofna all use P9 or P7 Evo Piccos.

Use the torquey on-road engines like the Nova 35plus or the Flash Special. Also, make sure the gearing is correct. We used 15/19 pinion with 49/45 spurs at Homestead. We chose the 35plus for the GT Worlds. TQ by more than 4 secs and cruised to the victory. Engine performed perfect the whole event.

Does anyone know if 777 components(diff cases, radio tray, center diff mount, etc.) will bolt on a GT2 chassis plate?

Most plastic parts will work, including the diff cases, bulkheads and center diff mounts, but the radio tray, front support, and steering bell cranks will not work. (some guys use the 777 bell cranks, but I have not tried it. I would use the GT2 stuff).

Cool

Does it make sense to spend alot more on the engine than the car itself? Just my two cents.

I live in Long Beach, CA. I can't believe the closes DM-1 48 tooth spur gear is 40 miles away. OFNA needs to get more distributors in Los Angeles.

If you wish to run the "IGT2" chassis length you can use the "STR" (not the STRR, its much longer) chassis with a slight mod to the spur opening and drilling 2 new holes for moving the gas tank slightly forward.

There's also a new chassis (Mika has it now!) that also allows you to use all the 777 steering bellcranks too.

I went with the STR, since the newer one was not offered yet.

You could also just use the 777 chassis you already have now, if you're creative. It would be very close to a IGT1. If the engine's location in the 777 is different and you're putting in a 2 speed, you might have to check on the center drive shaft lengths.
