Kyosho FW05
Hi everyone,
I've decided to upgrade my car and buy an FW05. I decided on this one because I want a shaft driven car. I don't expect to be racing, certainly not straight away but I'm a member of a club and have use of a good track. Can anyone give me some set up advice for the car. It is the Kyosho Cup version. Is this the foam or rubber set up ? and what would be the best upgrades for it ? many thanks for your help. Regards, 32819toon |
Hi mate i got the same car its a good car i recomend doing the mainfold and the pipe it gives it alot more power also if you would like to get alot more power pull your engine apart and smoothen the crankcase (with a file or sand paper) so that the fuel gets to the engine alot quicker .
Its a top car but i might get a Team Mgic g4s |

if you have the t plus you can run foams on it. change shock oil , springs maybe to try different rates for your track,

the shocks are ok but you have to get some harder spings because the stock spring are not as hard

Thanks Driftkingz.
It has arrived and I'm really pleased with it. As it is an ARR kit, would it have been oiled / greased, or should I strip it down and oil and grease it myself ? Thanks again for all your help. Regards, 32819toon |

Thanks Stevenc, which shock oil would you recommend, and what springs would be best ? Are the stock items not so good ?
Re header of a aftermarket tuned pipe, very important to match the ports. You will find the port on the header is always smaller in length to the motors port. So you just need to machine it a little to help with the gas flow. Another option part I bought is the special clutch KC45, supposed to engage a little higher rpm and better then stock alloy clutch. I forgot to mention also gearing. GXR motor is quite torquey and you can pull taller gearing very easily, go up one tooth each on the 1st and 2nd gear on the clutchbell. If you want more you can change the bevel gears on the Diffs from 40t to 39 if you want. |

Great job on the paint work, looks great. Do you mean RTR ..I didnt realise they came ARR. I would imagine if it came assembled diffs and shocks all ready to go. I would mainly check your suspension settings like camber and ride height, toes etc and make sure screws are tight.
Thanks for the help. 32819toon |

The kit spings are fine if you are using rubber tyres.
You will also need to put silicon oil in the diffs. I use 100000 in the front and 5000 in the rear. 40 to 50 in the shocks with 1.2 mm holes. |
Thanks for the info straybullet. I've only just broken the engine in tonight - damn British summer !!! I'm hoping to get on the track in the next few days - providing the weather stays dry !!
