Just about everyone at my home track runs a solid, with very little issues with belt wear. It gives you the good on power punch out the corner and still have brakes. You can probably tune for more turn in if you really need it.

Weather you run the solid, one way or diff, you can probably tune the car to whatever driving style you prefer, so no huge worries there!

You have to drill the holes for the outdrives to 8mm and put two 5 x 8 x 2.5mm bearing in each diff housing. the outer bearing sits flush and the inner is pushed in 1.5 mm to allow for the o-ring.
If done correctly, the diff spins really free w/o oil.

Didn't know that Serpent had bearings in the diffs. Which car?

what viscosity ( tigthness ) comparison to normal silicon oil filled gear diff ?

what grade of reliability we can expect from using ball diff setup ?

I run 100 k fron t and 50 k rear.
The advantage with the ball bearins is, that the diff action stays completely consitant.

The diff gets quite warm when racing and the plastic tends to expand, which makes the outdrives turn much harder.

I just disassembled a friend's rear 720 diff. It does have a bearing on the outdrive. I checked the instruction manual, and doesnt say anything about it. It doesnt even show how to mount the outdrives in the diff

just crossed checked my car after a 20min final i started with the following:

Front 61mm
Rear 63mm


end of race at 20mins:

Front 58mm
Rear 58mm

Is this good tyre wear? for 20min or bad?

I think its Sam, the OS engine i bought off you is one little ripper mate - its going strong still.... we are doing some mods to the engine, like crank porting and very minor sleeve porting - hopefully to give it some more poke, not that it doesnt already LOL......

might be too quick for a begineer, just my 2cents worth - did you know the OS TZ is a very budgetable engine, very easy to tune and lots of poke in the bottom end and top with the right car / exhaust & driver...

Nova price is very very cheap, whats the deal with this? anyone can shed light on if these knows are worth the $$$

The nova would be the go for the $$$ but apparently the new 2652 nova pipe gives these engines a bit more bottom end and better run time too!
If you go the nova, add a 2652 to your shopping cart!
I have the 09 in mine and the speed is awesome!
