You only need two digital servos if you're using HRS mode. If you're in PPM (regular FM mode) you can use a combination of analog and digital, or even just analog.
I believe the new Futaba DSM system allows you a choice of using either PPM or HRS. As suggested, go to the thread in electric onroad. It's very good.
I got the 3PK super (synthesized version) a couple of months ago and love it.

Couple other things. If you do decide to go with Spektrum there are two versions for the 3PK: the newer Pro version (which doesn't require digital servos) and an HRS version. The HRS version is faster but I doubt the average club racer would notice a difference over the Pro version.
As for the cover, you don't have to modify it if you're buying a 3PK super, that was only on the older radios.

http://rc-mushroom.com/product_info....ducts_id=11272

with spektrum DSM system for HRC module
http://rc-mushroom.com/product_info....ducts_id=10352

would it be the same as buying it in a set?? i know i woiuld end up with another reciever and module, but would it still need modifications? or would the module in the transmitter just pop out just like that??

thanks, hope to hear from u guys soon as im desperate to get one

I dont think the clip fits over my spektrum on the 3pks...or are you talking about the unit fitting in alltogether.

My spektrum does fit into my 3pks , but you cant get the clip to go back on over it.

I own the 3pks
have tried the hrs synth
spektrum hrs
and spektrum pro

I use spektrum pro now because some of my cars use analog servos..I can't tell if one is faster than another, they feel the same to me..
also I like the fuelproof coating on the spektrum pro recv

yes you can, the module fits just the same as the original one, its the same phisical size, only the original module doesnt have an antenna in the top.
