i dont know about the msx-3 if your talking about the ready to play mugen car that is shaft driven i think the hpi car would be a better choice due to far better parts support etc
if you mean the mtx-3 the brand new mugen car it would be a much better car for racing than hpi but if your primarily bashing around and not racing the hpi may still be the choice for you

ive run my rs4 3 against an msx3 and i was alot faster, id go with the rs4 3
