Default Best pipe for Picco Boost .28 5TR Truggy engine

Hey how's it going, I'm trying to find out some info and suggestions and knowledge on what is the best or a good pipe for the Picco Boost .28 5TR engine. I haven't used the engine at all, I looked on piccos site and all the pipes say for a .21 engine. I'm completely unsure if they would fit correctly onto a .28. Are the exhaust openings different sizes on a .28 so the .21 pipe wouldn't fit on? I think there all the same size but I'm not sure. Does anyone have any experience with this engine and or Picco pipes.
I will be using this on a Losi eight t 3.0. I'm currently using a .21 engine in the truggy but it's having some trouble clearing the big triple at my track, it's not consistent enough. So that's why I want to use the Picco .28

Any help is much appreciated!! Thanks a lot

Same size. Want more downlow, get the 2046. But you should be able to clear a triple (if everyone else is as well) with the 5tr .21 and if you wanted more, I would've went with the 5tx .21 instead. Fuel mileage playing the biggest part.

Hey how's it going, I got the Picco engine cheap that's why I bought it. Yea .28 is a big engine For the price I figured I try it out and if I don't like it in truggy it can go in my savage basher. But I have not broke in the Picco yet.
Right now in my eight t 3.0 I have a rb bxr sls3 .21 engine with a novarossi 9901 pipe with 41021 manifold. The track has a double then a quick turn into a very long triple. I can make the triple but sometimes I'm coming up short. A lot of nitro people said it's more a electric track and yea most people run electric there. With nitro Buggy I can clear the triple fine and ebuggy also can clear it easy. I know with the .28 Picco I'll clear it fine. I'm just asking for like the best overall pipe for that .28 Picco 5TR. Sorry if I wasn't clear that I wasn't using the Picco yet

I had this whole ordeal come up already.

I put that same Picco 28 in my Baja Bug to replace the worn out JL 28 I had in it. I ordered one of those Picco pipes from Ebay to use on it but it sat weird pointing down really hard so I would have had to heat and bend the header to make it fit in the car right and finding an exhaust seal to fit good was a little tricky too.

After talking about it on FB pages, I found out all those pipes are made to fit the slanted exhaust on the Picco and Reds .21 engines so I put one of my JP pipes on that engine instead.

Worked out really good though.

Since I had this really nice Picco pipe and stilll needed to decide on an engine for my RC8B3, I bought a .21 2016 spec Picco.

The 1st pic is the Picco pipe attached to the .28. The next 3 pics are the same pipe on the .21 and installed in my RC8.

Hey how's it going, thanks for responding to me!
So the Picco pipe doesn't fit correctly on the .28 5TR then cause the Picco pipes have a bent manifold for bent exhaust port? Sometimes different engines use different sized exhaust gaskets I noticed.
That's good to know. What Jp pipe did you put on it? I have two jp3 and one jp4. I think I'll just try one of those for now or I'll try the novarossi pipe I have now. But if someone knows a Picco pipe meant for the .28 5TR engine let me know! Thanks

Ditto on the Picco pipe for the .28 as I'm wondering the same thing.

I put a JP6 on it for now. I'm thinking the JP6 is a real P-O-S though. Having a hard time finding anything the JP6 will work good with.

I'll know soon enough if the JP6 is just an all around crappy pipe but I do have all the other JP pipes: 2 or 3 JP1s, 2 JP2s, 1 of the JP3, and 1 of the JP4 which was hookedup to my previously mentioned JL28. Some of those JP1, JP2, and the JP3 are still new in box. The JP3 is the only one I've never tried yet so thinking I'd like to see what it's like on this Picco 28.

The exhaust seal was really strange. The one that came with it didn't work with anything. The JP seal with the JP pipe wasn't so good either. After trying several including Alpha and other OFNA seals, I think I recall going with a Nova Rossi seal (blue one) that seamed to sit best on it with the JP header.

Oh ya and yes, the Picco header is bent a certain way for the .21s that have the bent down exhaust port.

The 5TB with Reds 2104 would be plenty for a truggy. The 5TB has grunt down low like crazy and is good on fuel.

In my experience the JP-2 was a great pipe on a .28. Nice wide tuning window, and big round gaping mid-range power. I have found the JP-4 good too. Easy to tune, and less of a fuel pig than the JP-2. There may well be some variables involved there, so perhaps the run-time thing is not %100..

I know a lot of people used to run JP-3's on .28's and liked them. I'm sure it would be good too. -2, -3, or-4... - all worth trying. I would expect the most power from the JP-2...

Thanks for all the input guys. Yea I have two jp3 pipes and a Jp4 I'll try those out and I'll try the nova pipe also. Does anyone know if Picco makes a pipe for the .28 engine?
I didn't even know they made a jp6 pipe.

The JP6 came out around early 2014 I think it was.

It was $106 everywhere but I found one new for around 75 shipped so I thought I would give it a try thinking that was a good deal.

Havn't tried it on anything but my Reedy 121 VR-ST but it was so bad, I'm kinda dreading trying on anything else but maybe my Picco 28 will be good?

OFNA 086 or Nova 9886 - with squared header

Ofna 053 or a Nova 0953 could be good for your application as well - not sure about your fuel mileage tho
