..or centre diff bearings.

My problem is the spur gear hitting the chassis. The teeth of the spur are fine. It's not gear mesh. It's the spur hitting the sides of the chassis.
Diff bearings have been brand new every time I've replaced the spur.

The guy just said his spur gear was rubbing on the sides of the chassis, I don't even know what that means, but I tried to ask for photos, so that we could figure this out and maybe help him. For the gear to rub on "the sides" of the hole in the chassis, if that is what it means, there would need to be some serious movement from side to side, of the centre diff. That has nothing to do with the chassis, and must be caused by something else.
But nobody are breaking any spur gears, nobody that I know of.

"everybody" runs it, and we aren't breaking any spur gears.

Or the problem could be like what this fella has asked.
There is no other way the spur would hit the chassis otherwise.
