Default problem with brake sticking

my dbx 2.0 is all good to go, except for one small problem
braking works great
but when I open the throttle, the brake lever doesn't disengage, it just stays put

perhaps I'm wrong, I really have no experience with nitro, but I think the brake level is supposed to move with the arm, kinda like this

am I maybe missing a spring that's supposed to go there?

Take a ballpoint pen. Get the spring out and cut it in small lengths. Maybe 2-3mm? Maybe longer. Put these on the screws that hold the brake pads in between the two pads. These will help keep your brakes from dragging when you don't want them.

Just a side note, you also need to find a carb boot for your carburetor. Not running without one will cause a tuning headache, as well as allow foreign debris into the engine, which causes shortened (usually much shortened) life span.

+1
Your motor will be a tuning nightmare without a carb boot. Plus suck in all the dust/dirt.

put a spring in between the arm and the tubing you have on there. that way it will push it out.

I just took some fuel line and put it on the arm, works like a charm
a spring would have done the same thing

is there a diy for carb boots? I know you can use balloon animal balloons for shock boots

Nope.

After looking at the GXR-18 engine, it looks like there is no real carb boot that's supposed to be on it. It's just a seal, which yours has on it. Not ideal, but I guess it works for Kyosho.

So, disregard what I posted.

oh, well thanks for the info for future reference!
I've always done electric, so seeing the other side of things with nitro, I understand the appeal now, and I'm sure this won't be my last nitro car
