There's your answer. The carb cleaner you used likely attacked the lexan, rendering it brittle. I discovered this unfortunate effect many years ago; ruined a perfectly good body.

I meant the last picture of the other body. Sprayed half a gallon of carb cleaner on that and it still holds up decent

Make sure you remove the cars body before using it.

that body is a JConcepts 8ight-t 1.o Illuzion. It wasn't the body's fault. Those are some of the toughest around. More than likely it became brittle after too much of a solvent. You can tell because it has lost its shine.

I have that body on my Losi 8ight, it's been through hell and still in good shape, probably wrong paint used.

was a copy, probally made of PETG..........
since PETG is Easier to Vaccum form.
part of my company as a sign maker it's common to use this Material...
but it is used where it will mostly used indoors out of the "Elements"
point of sale stuff in stores etc.

Lexan we also use but a heater to Evenly and "Quickly" and able to get above
400 degrees are needed with some Serious Vaccum.......
more so if your forming something like what we'll do with .90 lexan etc.

pretty common to see bodies break like this when made of a PETG....
almost seems like they "Shatter".........

In the picture, the body has a ton of dust on it. It was clear and shiny.
It was a custom paint job. Fairly cool too. Perhaps someone stripped an old job with wrong materials.

It definitely "shattered". Live and learn I guess. I'll be buying scratched up bodies from now on. At least then I know it'll take a beating.

Custom paint, hm? I'm guessing they used krylon for plastic, which bonds with the plastic and changes its composition. This is so it can be absorbed into the plastic substrate. This process also hardens polycarbonate, but would make lean brittle.

I have plenty of my old bodies from back n the day 20 years ago and they r still flexible. Something made it very brittle. Lexan is oil based so the sun could sure do it. Or chemicals. Its hard to guess at it but I've never seen one do that. Its actually a fairly simple paint job, u can replicate it easily with a airbrush

I used that krylon for plastic on a slash pe. First paint job ever. I hit a jump and when it landed the paint shattered and fell off the body. the body was fine but the paint didn't bond at all. I repainted the body and is still going today.
