Novarossi
I know that there are lots of choices in .21's, and several are closer to 200 dollars and are great engines, however, I've found through the years that Novarossi just makes really sweet engines. The p5 is a great engine for 250 dollars and the plus-4 is really popular, although not my personal choice, and the 7 ports have plenty of torque now. The FMS, the Toro Team, and the P5 are my three favorite engines. For a smaller or tight track the p5 is the best, and for a medium to large or more open track the FMS and Toro Team is just amazing. I run the Toro Team on a medium track with a stock 13t gear on my Mugen or on a larger track I gear up to a 14, and it freakin screams.
The FMS is probably the best engine for the money and has power everywhere. I've seen the price around 300 dollars and that's not bad for the way that engine tunes and delivers the power... The p5 is totally worth the extra 50 bucks from other 200 dollar engines. and if you want a longer powerband and better fuel mileage the Houston tuned p5 has no equal. Monty has great prices and the best customer service I've experienced yet, super cool guy.... HES p5=Torque w/sick powerband FMS=Brutal, good price Toro Team=expensive, but wow....... you can't go wrong with any of these three engines.... |
Check out the Precirotate Engines. You won't find more value for the money. No sales pitch needed. Nate.

i would go with the Werks or O'donnell SS... IMO the reedy just doesnt have enough power and they are known for the silicon to come out of the crank. the OD SS gets over 10 min of run time and holds a tune forever, we have 2+ gallons on ours and we get 10+ on every tank running the Dynamite 053 pipe and we havent touched the tune for 3 race, not even one hour. its a great engine. but IMO the Odonnell R2 pipe is a better match than the 053.
Can't go wrong with an OS, especially with their new motors coming out at a good price and soon. SS is a great club racing motor, closer to 8+ buggy. Andy |

The Reedy would easily stay with any SS lol, much more of a bottom end punch, but not much for the long straights, Reedy fixed the slicone in the cranks and if you get a motor with a bad crank they will fix it quick.

i can promise you, the OD SS can get 10+ in a buggy, we do it all day long. but when we run a JP3 (which makes this engine a whole other beast ;) ) we only get 7-8 in a tank.
Andy |
i actually got the engine before i became a team driver, im currently not running the OD engine, im wearing out my JPX and Alpha first and getting another OD for next season
|
ive had many OS .21 v-specs, really not impressed, the reedy crank issue kinda worries me! still leaning towards the odonnal .21, im not a real aggressive driver, just run my race and not worry about anything else.

OK, without mentioning a motor, what are you looking for out of it? Great fuel mileage, torque, top end? Price range plays a big role too.
Honestly. Out of the motors you list, the Nova +4 is the best option. |

anyway out of your list I'd go werks then nova(don't know much about the reedy or the OD) The werks runs great and has great bottom the nova with 9901 is smoother engine but also a great performing engine just has a more controllable power band(when compared to the B5/2013 combo) So I guess it depends on what you want out of your engine |
werks engines are by far my favorite so far I have ran em all....10 min pits in both buggy and truggy and the price is a bonus! super easy and quick break in so no wasting a gallon of fuel before you can race it..and tuning is pretty much set it and forget it. a hr here and there buts thats it...
but these days all the engines out their are quality just pick the one that is your favorite color and you can afford! |
The silicon to come out of the crank of my grp, how can I fix it????.
|
Check out the Radical 621t website is in the sig. Great motors, idle forever, power on tap, easy to tune and on top of all that reliability.. will easily run strong past 10gals
|
i have to agree with t8rtot radical engines are the best! i have had mine for a couple of months now and what a beast! they have so much power they will outrun any novarossi engine or any car i have raced and it has so much grunt out of the corners it is unbelievable!
and not only are they powerful through out the powerband they will easily do about 10 min and will last around 10-14 gallons! if i was you i would have a look and ask people on the radical engines thread they are simply awesome! hope this helps lewis |

Out of the motors you listed, I would go with a nova. Plus 4 or P5. Out of anything, well you know what it would be................................................ .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ........OS;)

I run a Reedy, my racing buddy runs an OD SS. I get a bit over 10 minutes runtime, he gets 8 1/2. On the straights we are neck and neck, winner is whoever brakes later. The silicone hasn't come out of the crank on mine, I wouldn't be worried about it. Both are good, just the Reedy is a hair better.
|
Look at werks or sirio and for your truggy go with a go engine 7 port gx7 you wont be sorry I like the MG66 on the truggy insane power.
For buggy you want smooth power delivery the evo4 with a 2057 pipe and will give easy 8+ on pit stops. The B6 from werks feels like a sirio but not a sirio, the power band is much smoother and the fuel from what I hear is in the 11+, am still breakin mine and it's doing really well so far. You will notice that the werks needles hold better their tune then the sirio which seem to be a little more loose. 2 different carbs on these engines. Check your budget look at getting to match your wallet and dont forget spare engines for your buggy and truggy you never know, it happens to the best of us. |

I'll have to agree get a go engine. Actually just give me your last go engine and i'll fix it and show you that its not broken or bad.

I run a Reedy with a 2039 tuned pipe and I really like the performance and runtime.
Novarossi 21 Plus 4 is another great engine, I've ran one last year. OS, you can go wrong but they are a little pricey OD, I only good words about this engine GO, seems that their problem with the carb are things of the past. They are also good engine for the money. There are sooooooooooo many choices in .21 engines in the 200-250$ range. |
I haven't been on A-main for a while and was recently looking, there are a ton of good motors around the $200.00 mark.
I recently modded a Odonnel motor, the crank was really soft, not sure if it was just a bad one or if they are all that way. Rex |
I agree on the radical option. gotnitroonline.com Dave will take care of you and treat you right. And if the ton of power isn't enough the awesome shaped heads they run will seal the deal.
|
Why can't people just stick to the list given? Am I the only one that gets tired of this?

Because people would rather push what they have thinking its best then give an answer that the OP is looking for. It happens in EVER thread.
This is exactly what happens with all "What is the best..." threads. Mine is always better than yours etc etc etc .... |
