I haven't been to Hemet in a long time so I can't really help you there. For Thunder Alley I would still go 13/48.

I've used up to 15/48 for a track with a long straight. Keeps motor from overrevving.

I favored 13/48 or 13/50....Granted my Motor's Rarely need help on bottom.
