Ceramic bearings will not touch my 8th scale rides. A unnecessary expense.

not even a drop of oil for the inside bearing, you clean it out and run it dry?

never any oil on the inside bearing. That oil will immediately go into the shoes etc and cause slip and heat and cause more problems. Ran clutches like this for 20+ years 👍

I am sure that oil lasts a couple of minutes, at least! quite useful!

Longer lifespan also means less maintenance. I have other things I have to do on a daily basis too. Finding time to tinker with my RCs gets harder every year.

agreed same here. The last couple years i usually run the whole weekend on what I showed up with. The days of wrenching half the night etc are long gone. If you want to find out how to the get the most out of every piece I’m your guy haha

Hello Tony Newland,

How about when we use Vented Clutch Bell? If there is an excess oil, it will fling out right away through the Bell Opening.

Cheers..

yes if any of it makes its way through the shoes etc it will exit the bell through the vents. But the point is to not send oil or grease through the shoes and clutch bell surface where it creates slippage and heat 👍

So I have been using Avid ceramics as I mentioned above.

I feel like J&T has gone the distance it seems here in the last year or so. Like what I mean, pushing it and bringing it some good products.
I will give them a try on the bearings.

Yeah I’ve gone well over a gallon on avid clutch bearings for years. Haven’t found a reason to try any of the new comers to the category. $4 per gallon in bearings? Holy smokes what’s that equate to per tank? $.13 per tank lol
