What kind of wheels do you use and why?
Hello, I'm still some what new to this hobby. I see a lot of people use different kinds of wheels. When I started to race someone told me to get the pro-line V2 wheels cause they were the best to get. So the only wheels I have used so far are pro-line v2's, losi and one set of panthers and I'm getting ready to try a set of AKA wheels. I do prefer the yellow wheels though.
Now I know there is a big differance in tires deppending on what conditions you run on. But wheels, does it really matter that much? So my question is what kind of wheels do you use and why?

i prefer the round ones usually white or green

AKA Buggy wheels. They're approx. 5 grams lighter per unit than the PL V2's. 20g reduction in unsprung weight and rotational mass is nothing to laugh at.
You can dye them with Rit fabric dye if you like yellow.
The AKA's also seem to be more resistant to distortion; I've had several PL's distort through the years.
Truggy; I run the PL VTR (because you have to with the VTR's) and AKA for all else.
I've also run the JConcepts rulux Half-ups in truggy; just because the spokes are different and look mega-cool compared to the plain disc style wheels. They're super tough and never had an issue with 'em. They are a touch heavier than the AKA's; but I haven't weighed to see how much.

I personally like the AKA wheels. I have ran the exact same tires on non AKA wheels, and they do have a different feel to them. I think it has to do with the design of the AKA wheels. They are the only wheel (that I know of) that has a convex face to them. Most others are flat, or have a slight dish to them. The convex face may be keeping the wheels from distorting, which gives them that different feel. To be honest I am not sure. Maybe there is a physics engineer out here, that may be able to comment on that.
Just my conclusion.

Always a little fingertip crack on the inner bead.
I've had many PL V1/V2 buggy wheels distort and no longer run true; but not break. I've never had an AKA distort or break...yet.

I also found the same thing happening. Back in early 2009 I saw and had many AKA truggy wheels crack. But since mid 2009 to the present, I have never seen or had another one crack. They must if change them a bit.
