setting spur gear/clutch bell/melted exhaust??
Hey y'all, I'm new to this forum, I did a search prior to asking this, is using a piece of paper or celiphane from a pack of cigarettes the best way to set the gap between the spur gear an clutch bell? im doing this on a 4910 Maxx with a O.S. .21TM btw.
EDIT:: Hey y'all took the maxx out today just before it got dark, it was tearing it up [left burnout marks on my street >.>] but I now have a new problem, I melted the exhaust pipe, I still have/had the stock 4910 pipe from when the truck was new [7 yrs ago?] now the question is, is there any redneck engineering I can do to fix this, like epoxying something to replace the melted material? Or is it just time for a real tuned pipe, problem being I looked on ebay an the tuned pipe for my motor was 40-110 bucks

Yeah, that's a good way to do it if you don't have a feel for it. Also, make sure, after you tighten down the engine mount to check the mesh at points all the way around the spur gear. Sometimes you can have a high or low spot.
