Exactly!! I read three pages right now n was super stoked thinking "hell a 300$ vspec with a dlc crank I'm sold fersure" now I'm seeing 350$ and all I can think is why not spend another 70$ n get a pro-mod that has a matched p-s, speed rod/carb better case dlc crank. I mean come on even if I was stupid I still wouldn't spend 350$ for that engine over a ninja I can pick up for around 310$. I'll stick with my ninjas and my 1 vspec. I will say whatever O.S. Is working on will be better n I hope they can keep it in the 270$ range.

A vspec with a better case, rod, and pin at 270$ would be a bitchin package.

Lastly I'll say this 300 Limited edition os engine is just a collectors item so whoever decides to get one shouldn't expect anything better then a vspec with a dlc crank, THATS IT! Nothing special a ninja will outperform it all day in every catagory.

Its weighted but not coated like the speed. So its a 1/2 speed engine.

10-4 on that . I was once a big vspec fan, but after multiple failures I had to let them go. They had great fuel economy/power ratios, but couldn't withstand the heartbreak of poor quality and reliability. I've had multiple with no pinch problems after 1 gallon- I mean zero compression. And of course, no warranty what-so-ever.

You all can say it's me, but, went back to rossi, and have run that sweet motor for 2 years now.

The world championships would have been won using any motor- (example- D8 won last year lol) Those guys win with whatever they drive that day.....

I hope OS gets their act back together and put out quality again and some customer support

I've never personally seen another engine with the build quality of a V-Spec or Speed. They hold a tune and last a long time, in my experience. The carb quality is second to none.

I do wish they'd coat the crank pin in the V-Spec... just the pin would be fine with me.

The Limited Edition doesn't appeal to me due to the price. But I am excited to see what my favorite engine manufacturer is replacing the V-Spec with.

The only OS I bought was no good. I think it was the carb. I would use OS again. They do make a great engine. I'd like to see a DLC coated crank at least. Carb barrell and case would be nice as well.

I've never had a problem with a Nova Rossi engine. They tune easy and held a tune. I've had quite a few in over 15 yrs of nitro.

OS carbs are known to be one of the best in the industry thats why a lot of people that run GO etc swap out user friendly and great performance.

I do have to say it's purdy! I agree though, that it's only a collectors item. The only difference I can see from a standard v-spec is the head and number on the case.

With that said, I am super stoked to see what it is being replaced by. They are replacing the best selling, winning-est engine of the last decade, so whatever it is has to be an impressive machine. Like others what I would look for and hope for would be a v-spec in the ninja JX/.28XZ case, with a coated crank and speed rod. I don't know if lightning and filling it would be necessary, just basically a coated v-spec crank without the oil hole in the crank pin. Things you won't see are a slug balanced/weighted crank or ceramic bearing. Those items still belong to the speed and rightfully so. I don't see any changes being made to the speed other than maybe updating it to the JX style crank case. We all know the OS 21J carburetor is the best on the market so there is no reason to change that. And the piston/sleeve set are already top notch.

IMO the v-spec is one of the greatest engines of all time, and it's reputation and results show that. It's going to be a hard act to follow, but I have confidence that it's replacement will be a new top engine.
