Hello.

Some people recommend to oil a pre-filter, some don't!?
So what to do, oil them or not?

I do both, cant be to safe.. then run a Underground rc Filter protector thing.. sometimes if really dusty..

I used to oil just the inner filter, but then found that on really dusty days the filter got totally caked up with dirt while the outer filter was hardly dirty. So I then started oiling the outer filter as well, just to be safe. Then I found filter covers, and started using it to prevent the outer filter from getting caked with dirt. Now my filters easily last twice as long as before, and I have the added protection for my engine.

Yes I do. The only reason I'm using the filter cover is to stop dirt from clogging the oiled pre filter. Dirt doesn't stick to the filter cover. So I can go much much longer without having to change filters.

Oil the outer filter but only very lightly or blot most of the oil out of it, this way the inner filter remains much cleaner.

I use regular "thick" filter oil on the inner and then this stuff on the outer.

Its thin so I can get most of it off by squeezing the filter in a towel. By doing this I can run one inner filter all day and change the outer 3-4 times.

When you dont oil the outer all the dirt passes right through and it cakes up between inner and outer. I oil both and replace the outers after each race and the inners after every other race.

If I was really smart I would use something that washes off like K&N or Rock Oil on the outer and I would be able to clean and reuse them but I would never clean and reuse an inner filter.

Oil both, but squash the outer pre-filter between two paper towels on a table till you can barely get anymore oil out of it, before installing. Once mine starts to cake up a bit on dusty days, I just scrape off the outer buildup if it gets too thick. You'd be amazed how "caked" the filter has to get before it starts to hurt power too much.

I just oil the inner I found that when I oil the outer it attracts more dirt than not having oil on it. most people who have losi's oil both just because thats how they come. I also change just the outer filter every 4 runs if its dusty.

it's a two stage filter, IMO if you oil outside it's trapping both large and small particles. clogging it faster restricting air.

I do lightly brushed coat of WD40 if I'm running slightly wet conditions on outer filter to reduce water from getting in the filter, but other than that I keep outer dry.

My filters come as inner and outer set, and cheap.. replace both after full days run, clean both in Dawn after.
