28 heats at 7 mins qual and 3 mins between time for a total of 10 mins per qualifier is 280 minutes, divided by 60 you get 4.6 which is 9.2 hours a day with two rounds of qualifying.
Mains on the other hand will take a bit longer which is why we will have to shorten the lower mains (below Semi Finals) to 10 minutes, Semi's 30 and Finals at 45. That is the only way to complete the entire field on Sunday of mains.
I never much like having some of the lower's on Saturday night after already a long day of racing. Its hard on the staff and the guys who have to run those mains. But, if the field opts for this choice at the event, we will consider it.

Why not try to get 3 rounds of quals done the 1st day and run the 4th round and some lower mains the 2nd day. That way Sunday will be shorter and it gives people that drive more time to get home at a decent hour. I would much rather run Quals Saturday till 10 or 11pm and have a shorter day Sunday.
Just a thought.

Think of this this way, once the loop goes live, the last car in the heat won't cross the line until about 30 seconds after the first (that's 7:30). Then the last car might run a 7:40 lap time, that's an extra 40 seconds. So now your 1:10 over the 7 minutes just in race time. Plus the time to get all the cars in, drivers off the track, new drivers on the track, and 2-3 minute warm up. You're looking at 5-6 minutes minimum, even with a guy like JB running the event, and that's if everything goes perfect.
Most likely, 2 rounds of 28 heats at 7 minutes each (plus 6 minutes per heat) will take about 12 hours.

Dawn, it's impossible to only have 3 minutes between quals in nitro, especially with live loop starts.

TQ Fuel owner, Luther Griffin, has paid for an entry for an unnamed driver yet to be signed to his team. Luther and I spoke last week about this and I had expected to hear from him on Friday who this person might be but I'm assuming he's still in contract talks.
