air filter maintenance
the big decision for filter maintenance depends on the track conditions. i run at an indoor track that has little dust at times. sometimes I come off the track and the outer filter has nothing on it. if it gets dusty I run the filter until I see dirt making its way to the inner filter and then toss em.
I did run an outdoor track in OK. Now that track had some fine sand that was a motor killer. we were literally replacing the filter each time we hit the track. it was bad. lots of guys blew motors because of sand getting into their motors. reusing the filters wasn't an option.
I'd rather keep my motor running well and replace the filters. buy in bulk and use mugen filter oil. for the track in OK we oiled both inner and outer filter because of the dust.

ive only ever used one filter and it doesnt have an inner and outer filter, it just has one and i have never changed it, i just clean it and re-oil. i have never had a problem with any dirt in my engine. and the foam really isnt even dirty. i just dont see the point of wasting your money because some guy who races them and gets his crap free says to use a new one everytime, of course he's going to say that so you guys will buy 100 a week and raise their profits.

Does any one use Marvel Mystery Oil on their filters?

It's not nearly sticky enough to stop dirt getting through the foam.... You should be using something that is designed for foam filters.,... Go to your local motorbike shop and get some filter oil from there. It's much cheaper than RC branded stuff and you get 10 times as much in the bottle!

I use naptha to clean my filters. Never had a problem with reusing them. Another trick too is to wrap you filter with vetwrap as a prefilter.
