Looking to buy a non-OS pull start for my O.S. .21 VG PX.

so you would like to bump start your vg? if so yes. you will need a different backing plate and maybe short engine stand

Backplates, roto-starts, and Pullstarts are specific to engines. they have to be made exclusively for the engine you are fitting them to. They are not universal. so to answer your question..Yes and no. you can use another pullstart, but only if the manufacturer states it will fit your engine

I was looking for a pull start that wasn't made by O.S. (cheaper) but turns out they're all quite expensive and the O.S. uses a unique screw type.

Will order a O.S. replacement pull starter, oh well . Thanks anyway guys!

Pull starts are evil! Pure and simple, get yourself a good bump box and start your engine with ease from now on!

The cheapest, best deal I could find at a-main. Trust me if you go this direction you will have less headaches.
