My first was a Tyco Turbo Bandit - 9.6v of wheelies on demand power!

I had several "forward and turn in reverse" cars before then, but this was the first one with any real speed.

My first "real" RC was a used RC10T followed a year later by the RC10T2 -- this was the first one I built.

this is going to age me. My first was when I was about 10 years old. A copy of the F1 Marlboro car. 3 buttons Left/Right/Forward. About 1977.

First hobby grade was the Grasshopper, then Tamiya John Players special, Tamiya's Newman Porcshe, Boomerang.

Does anyone remember the R/C cars that actually had a cable attached? What about the ones that didn't steer, they just went straight when going forward, then turned right when going backwards!? The remote had two buttons only!

I had a few of those as a kid. Of course a Nikko here and there. My first real R/C car was a Kyosho Shadow when I was in middle school, I still have it to this day! Kid's today got it made, the crap we had went we were kids was rubbish.

I'll try and scan it for you, I couldn't find it on the web. Correction, it's in my 1985 JC Penny's catalog, I bought one of those too This thing evidently took 5 C cell batteries, had a range of 60 feet (wow!) and cost $74.99 back in 85'.

That's it! 5 C cells and 4 AA's in the car and 4 AA's in the radio. $74.99!!! damn my parents forked out some dough.... I think I started begging for the car in the summer and got it for christmas. I remember drawing a picture of it on poster board and taped it to my bedroom door facing out! I remember the batterys because I put that on the poster also. I was making sure I got everthing I needed to play with it. My parents tricked me though, I had a really bad habbit of sneeking out at night and carefully opening my presents to see what they were. So they labled it to my dad instead of me. (I was playing with my "Stompers" [remember thoes] weeks before I accually opened them up on christmas)

Default Mine was an old JoMac 1/12 Scale car...

My first R/C car I ever owned was a used Jo Mac 1/12 Scale carpet car running a mechanical wiper arm speed control with two Futaba S32 servos and a Magnum Junior transmitter! Couldn't afford an ESC as they were just coming out then (1984)...

We had a minimum weight that the car had to be and to get rear traction, I had to zip tie 3 AA batteries off the rear pod! That thing took a lot of pounding...
