How to remove baked on oil/dirt from pipe/header?
I have a hard anodized JP1 that has a fair amount of use. There is a bunch of nitro gook mixed with dirt on that header that almost looks like rusts. It feels like its a part of the header now. What solvent should I soak the pipe in to remove it?

Old crock pot on hi and anti-freeze. Let soak for 6-8 hours. Pull it out and wipe it off. I am going to post some pics later.

Try using a crockpot and heat the pipe/header in some auto coolant (the green type). The phosphorus in the coolant is what will remove the cooked-on gunk. I haven't found any "good old" detergents that still have high phosphorus anymore (not allowed in the USA anymore). Dishwasher detergent & water in the hot crockpot may work. I tried it a while back, and it cleaned them up, but not as good though.

Here is a pipe that I just cleaned and polished.
Step 1.
Disassemble pipe and header.
Step 2.
Place pipe and header in crock pot. Let is soak 6-8 hours on "hi" then flip the pipe so the section that is sticking out gets a warm bath. That is green antifreeze. It has been used a lot for this and is starting to brown.
Step 3.
Polish to a lustery shine.

This definitely works. I just tried it for the first time last week and it worked perfectly. Well, up until the time the hot coolant suprisingly came out of the pipe stinger and ran down my hand leaving a red mark. I thought all the coolant was out.
Tip: make sure you get all the hot coolant out of the pipe before you handle it with you hands.

it reeks to beat hell but it works like a champ!!!!! pipes get residual build up on the inside which takes away volume and changes the way the pipe resonates and makes power , the antifreeze cleaning method removes all that junk and the pipe works likes new again barring any big dents
