No it is not needed. Just make sure that the linkage is not binding up. You should be able to pull the throttle linkage out and more the carb while the servo does not move. This shows that it is not binding and moves freely.

anybody have a link to where i can get one of those split center diffs you speak of?
I do run the split center mount. I happen to like it. It is stronger and makes changing the center diff on a BCE chassis much easier. I dont have to mess with those damm washers.
As for the servos, Nick I dont mess with anything thats under 300 oz of torque. Come on those might look pretty but their specs are horrible.

spindle/spindle carrier...shim or not...
on my new 8T 2.0 roller, i've got some(approx 8mm) of "up/down" spindle play where the pivot pins connect it to the spindle carrier. a 8mm washer takes all the play out. just seems that 8mm is alot of play....is it a good idea to SHIM out the up/down play..??

I wouldnt shim anything. My buddy bought a new 8ight t 2.0. and shimmed all the play on the whole truck,And it handled like sh$$%^!t.
