Is it an "S7" or a "WS7; WS7II; WS7III"?

The S7 (standard non-worlds) should already have a fixed 8mm carb on it and have no need for an insert; whereas a World's edition would because it has a 9mm insertable carb body.

You are correct.

RB Has a wonderful website with all the exploded views listed; so if anyone needs to see and check the numbers/see the illustration for themselves, take a look:

However; the S5 and S7 that I've handled were fixed venturi 8mm carbs. They will not (or at least are not molded to) accept the standard molded plastic RB/Novarossi style inserts.

If you compare a "fixed" 8; vs. and insertable 8 or 9mm unit from Nova or RB you will see the difference and the "seat" where the insert is supposed to sit (which a fixed 8 doesn't have).

Hope that helps.
The S series has an 8mm carb, however it is insertable. trust me I have an S7 and an S5 both running novarossi plastic carb inserts. I don't know about the really old S series carbs but the ones you get on the MSC and L2G and even the model prior to the MSC line all have an insertable carb.

Here you go. A step by step process of putting a novarossi 7.5mm restrictor into an RB carb. This is the carb that came on my S5 L2g and is the same as the one on my non MSC S7 II

Sorry for the crappy pics.

Focus
Seriously, thanks though. I'm planning on getting an S5 next spring or whatever else RB comes out with in 2009 that costs $200-$250! I always figured from what everyone told me that I'd be looking at getting a 7mm restrictor after it was broken in and see what it did for fuel mileage and low end or whatever. Looks like I've still got the same plan

Forgot to give you credit for that one! Were you using the macro setting on the camera for close ups or not?
Sometimes those stupid things just don't cooperate though...

Jammin'

Thanks for the pics!

In your 2nd photo you can see the tapered 'seat' where the insert goes down and "sits".

Its been quite a while since I've handled the RB's; but the carb's I'm talking about don't have that "seat" for the insert to sit it. They were truly a "fixed" 8mm (which Nova used to make).

I'll post some pics of what I'm talking about.

Pretty dumb they'd send it without the insert though; because thats really what creates/completes the carb body for a proper venturi shape.

Yes actually I think I have seen those older carbs. Novarossi makes the current ones also. Actually novarossi manufactures everything RB. It is dumb that they dont include the insert. I guess its because the S series are thier cheaper engines (even though they arent "cheap").
