Jammin JPX .28, one of the best engines out, full blown race mill, (not sport) 7 ports, $200. I run it in my Hyper ST pro, and I will never even try another engine for it.

Mach 26 is a super engine for the price ($90-$120 depending on what you find). Has the grunt like a 28, but has a little more top end then the 28s. Plus they are very inexpensive to rebuild every 6-8 gallons.

The dynamite .28, this motor with a JP2 and ODO77 plugs was a monster in my truggy. Tons of bottom and fast on the straights, decent fuel mileage also. I ran it in a Jammin crt.

RB S5 or the S7

If you look around you can find them both even cheaper. I bought my S5 new off E-BAY for 180.00

Both are great motors, easy to tune plenty of power, and good mileage

Skip high dollar engines!! Thats all they are!!

Agreed. I love my S7, although it does run a bit warmer (245-250) than some others I've used in the past.

They like to run a bit warmer than other engines. I was always told tune by smoke not temps.Once I followed that advice the motors scream. Mine ran about 250-260.But it had penty of smoke. Sometimes trying to tune into a magic window of low 200 range does nothing give you a dog motor and a ton of frusratation.

Agreed. what I meant by my temp window was that it's got plenty of smoke in that range. Any lower, and it breaks up REAL bad up top. Then again, by comparison, my last V-Spec seemed happy at 225ish. But I'm WAY more impressed with the overall powerband of the RB.

thanks for all the advice (even the ones that don't own a nitro right now:lol:). but i bought a 427 today from a guy i race with. he sold it to me for 100.00. just rebuilt and modded with a kingzhead cooling head. i have seen this motor ru before the rebuild and it screams!!! i can't wait to get it o the track!!!

Rocket XUT 09-21-2008 09:07 PM

Good deal if your stoked on it that all that matters. I got to thinking Another good motor Ive seen run Never owned one myself is the GS/XTM 24.7

looks good on the track and seems very easy to tune

Twotan 09-21-2008 09:27 PM

I have had 4 different motors this year in 3 cars. They were 3 nov's and the last one was a Jammin .28. I really like the Jammin .28, easy to break-in and tune. I would buy another one when this one dies' and i want to put a .21 jammin into my buggy soon.

Good Luck with the new motor.

Good luck with your mill, and as you can see this isn't really the place to get a lot of good advice -- too many opinions, some more anxious to give it out than others, and you never know who it's coming from. ;)
Let us know how it works out for you. :)

GH Racing 09-22-2008 10:39 PM

I would recommend the OS 21VG
