Default The top 15 Nats drivers, How many engines used per season.

Just like the title says, I am looking for a close count on how many engines a driver that places in the top 15 at the Nats may go through in the summer months of racing, I'm just using summer months as a reference.

Pro Drivers please post as well. And please post why you use the amount you use.

Brian,

On a conservative side, I would go through 3 engines in a full year(we race year round). On the high side, I would say 6 engines.
This includes racing/practicing twice a week.

Looking to sponsor a top racer huh?

I'm thinking similar to Colin's vote of 6. That would be my guess. I don't see them doing major troubleshooting if one starts to give them a fit. Just go on to the next one....

I think the top guys use many more than 6.
They definitely run the snot out of them and move onto the next one.
They can't afford to have a questionable engine take them out of a race.

Also, most of them get a pay check for running the equipment as well.

I think it depends on the driver/contract, but I know that some of the top guys get monthly pay checks with bonuses for wins, etc.

Ok then, so how much are we looking at, alot of crazy #s have been tossed around, anyone have any facts, and i don't need names of drivers really, just an idea of amounts per month or race win amount.

And another point to look at, how many of the top 15 don't have a full motor deal, i have been approched by full ride drivers to mod engines, but simply out of respect for the manufacturer i advised to speeke with them first, and the idea gets closed, which i can understand, but are they all full ride deals in the top 15, i would think it's a very strong possibility.

I would say they will want to get paid whatever it takes to get them to run your engines. Whether or not that increases your sales by that much or more is open for debate. One problem you may have is that many car manufacturers have in house engines now so the drivers are likely to run that engine. Losi has GRP, Kyosho has Orion and Sirio, Mugen has Ninja, etc...

I am sure they are breaking in a new motor for every big race they go to.

HAHA,If your over paying Shane then just give me some motors to run and I won't charge you anything.Besides, My last name is cooler than his. LOL.

what engines do you run now Shane R

I agree, chassis companies are getting very good at isolating and compounding everything into one deal, it only takes money LOL

It definitely works, look how many people bought GRP engines after Drake, Truhe and Maifield started running them.

Kinda ridiculous if you ask me.
