Default Minimum outside temp to break-in engine

Bought my boys each a Hyper7 and they're chomping at the bit to run them. Just curious what the minimum outside temp should be to start this. I told them probably not until atleast 50 deg. Just curious hoping to have them start during their March break. The motor is a Hyper .21 and I have hot and medium plugs.

Thanks

Rap the head with a sock or aluminum foil and always have the body on.
Temps will go up and you can break it in with no worries.

A beer coozie works great too. I kept a heat gun on my motor almost the entire time I was idling tanks through it to keep the temp around 200.

You are right on the temp, the plugs is your choice the hotter the bigger tuning window. Check the for recommended plug and wrap the heads with the thick alum foil not that cheap dollar sore stuff.

My concern is the outside temp as I'm currently 19 deg. I would assume to properly combust the fuel you'd want a more moderate outside temp. Not only that but the engine would probably cool too fast.

At that temp a heat gun is really your only option when idling tanks through it. The engine won't retain enough heat at break-in speeds when it's that cold outside.

We race indoors with the doors open at colder temps than that. I like to break my motors in at 40 degrees or higher because it is easier to keep the temp of the motor up and I do not wear gloves during the process.

Cold air actually equals better combustion. The tuning of the motor will make a big difference on break in. As the others suggested, use a heat gun and aluminum foil to get the temps up and heat cycle the motors.
