I love the V-Spec too. But I haven't had longevity with them. I'm loving the GRP. The Italians are the best in the business when it comes to motors and the materials they are made of. When it comes to the Rossi family of motors, you're talking about a motor that will last a couple seasons. I haven't been able to say that about my OS engines.

With this feedback I am so glad I went with the GRP. I know OS is a great motor and I could have not gone wrong with it. I want something that will last and has good smooth all around power.

can somone help me get ten mins out of my grp. best motor I have ever had smooth with tons of power. I am kinda new at tuning being doing it for couple mounths now. I can only get 6-7 mins on my grp with 2053 pipe byrons gen2 fuel 30percent in losi 8 13 48 gearing what's the trick to 10min. have about 1 gallon on it not including breaking 3/4 for break in

I am a huge fan of the GRP engines. The quality is excellent and long lasting.
I have heard of 10+ gallons w/o doing anything to the engine but racing it |
I have over 4 gallons on my GRP, over 10 mins run time easy. I recently switched to the MSR 1005 pipe and it made the engine alot stronger all around, not that it was weak by any means before. Hands down the best engine I've ever owned and I've had dang near all of them at one point or another.

I run the GRP and the V-Spec.
As a matter of fact, I've got two GRP .21s and a few V-Specs.... For me, the V-Spec is what I like. Its got power everywhere. From the bottom all the way to the top. Great engine, but because it makes great power/torque on the bottom, you have to have good throttle control. The GRP is very good engine too. But, it lacks bottom-end. The power delivery is very linear, but its a slow curve regardless of what shoes and springs I use in the clutch when compared to the V-Spec. This can be good for those that would tend to spin the tires on the V-spec. It makes the GRP very drivable. The problem is sometimes you want that low-end grunt and its not there. As far as longevity. I'm finding that both the GRP and V-specs are averaging about the same amount of fuel before needing a pinch or piston/sleeve. I'm not seeing one consistently outlasting the other.... So, I'd go with the V-spec.... |
the included pipes with the GRP engines will absolutely smother then engines power output......... anyone for looking for more power needs to remove those crappy Mugen pipes and run something like a 086/053 or MSR 1005....your not going to find a poorer performing pipe then the included GRP units
So those of you saying the GRP has no bottom seriously needs to try a different pipe... |
so the 2053 sucks????

How about a JP-1, isn't that a pipe for low end punch? I don't race national events so.... how's that one?

If your GRP is lacking bottom end you need to tune it a bit better. If I want it too mine will ballon all 4 on demand. If you are tuning it like your Vspec, that is where you are going wrong. Tune in the bottom end to a lean bog, back it off 3 hours, reset your idle gap, then tune the top for run on......ballistic and runs about 200. |

i would half to say vspec... but only because i like the low end grunt it has over the grp. GRP to me is hard to keep in tune...

In so much as I tend to prefer longer run times over more power, does the stock GRP pipe still fall short in this regard? Alternately, is there a pipe/header combination that you feel would surpass the stock pipe/header combo for longevity without sacrificing too much of the power? |
Yeah I am now hearing that the GRP is a PITA to keep in tune...:cry: Guess I'll learn to be a great tuner with this thing... if I don't huck it over the fence first because is pisses me off everytime I have a heat and it needs a complete retuning.:flaming:
